This Morning halted as Dermot O’Leary forced to intervene after major blunder

Alison Hammond said that a This Morning star ‘didn’t have a clue’ as they made a whopping blunder live on air.

Presenter Dermot O’Leary swooped in to save This Morning in a very awkward moment on Friday as his co-star made a huge blunder live on air. Competition presenter Jeff Brazier seemed to become somewhat confused as he messed up on reading his lines while the cameras were rolling.

He had been sharing the details of the ITV show’s competition when it all quickly went downhill. Jeff shared that viewers who enter the competition could be in with a chance of bagging themselves £90,000 as well as a holiday to Gran Canaria. He said: “Here’s the details, all the best,” before the programme displayed some text about how to enter and Jeff then fell silent – but it seems that he wasn’t supposed to stop talking. After a few awkward moments, the presenter could be heard saying: “Read the slate,” as though responding to show bosses, thinking that he was off air.

He then stuttered as he continued: “Now, the first season of boxing… What am I reading?” He awkwardly laughed as someone could be heard saying “erm,” before regular presenter Dermot jumped in to help.

Dermot reeled off the phone number to call in his ever-professional manner, before checking: “Is that right? Yeah?”

He reassured his co-star, stating: “Don’t worry,” before Alison Hammond chimed in too, helping Dermot to take over Jeff’s role. As she finished the rest of the competition spiel, Dermot praised her. “That was very good,” he said.

“Thank you very much,” she answered. “I went back into my competition days. Thank you so much.” She then turned her attention to Jeff as she declared: “He didn’t have a clue what had happened there, did he? Neither did I, I just went into this robot. It was really, really weird.”

The blunder didn’t go unnoticed by fans, who took to social media to discuss it. Writing on X/Twitter, one viewer said: “Jeff mucked that up big time didn’t he!”

Another joked: “One job Jeff, one job #thismorning.” While a third seemed annoyed, as they wrote: “I can’t stand Jeff Brazier!!!! He really puts me off watching programmes that he’s on!! #ThisMorning.”

It’s not the first time Jeff has had an awkward moment live on air. Just a few weeks back he scolded Loose Women’s Ruth Langsford as the cameras were still rolling. Jeff, 46, had praised Ruth’s, 65, blouse – a gesture that was warmly received by her and the ITV studio.

However, Jeff was swift to note that they were encroaching on his competition segment time, urging them to move on promptly. He said: “I’m doing my comp bit, guys, let me carry on!”

At the end of the segment, he added: “I’m really sorry, Ruth, when I give compliments, I don’t want it to eat into my competition time. So next time, if I say a nice compliment, don’t say anything back just say ‘Cheers Jeff!’ and that’ll do me.”
