Eye-watering true cost of the Beckhams’ wedding ‘revealed’ – £100k dress; ‘priceless’ cake; whopping fee they were paid!

Today (Friday, July 4) marks David and Victoria Beckham’s 26th wedding anniversary.
The mega-famous couple tied the knot back in 1999 with a lavish ceremony in Luttrellstown Castle near Dublin.
To mark their anniversary, ED! takes an exclusive look at the eye-watering true cost of Victoria and David’s big day…

It’s safe to say that David and Victoria’s wedding ceremony in 1999 was one of the biggest celebrity events of the 1990s.
The big day featured a castle, a diamond-encrusted cake and the infamous thrones they sat in during the reception.
But as the couple celebrate their 26th wedding anniversary today, how much would the celebration set them back today? OLBG has managed to work out how much the big day would cost in 2025. And, according to them, the whole day cost at least £750,000.
Some of the costs weren’t reported at the time (namely, the diamond-encrusted cake created by Damien Hirst), which makes it impossible to work out the final total; however, many of the numbers did make it into media reports.
The venue, Luttrellstown Castle near Dublin, can be hired out today for £35k, according to OLBG. But that was just for the building itself, so they needed to add food on top. Posh and Becks reportedly paid £48 per head.
Although they only had 29 guests at the actual wedding, that number was increased to 230 by the time the food arrived, meaning it would have cost the couple an eye-watering £11,040 to ensure everyone was fed. Adjusted, this works out to around £21k.

Two outfits and a dazzling tiara
Victoria’s Vera Wang dress cost a shocking £100k back in 1999, which adjusted with inflation for 2025 rates almost doubles the price to £191k.
She also wore a stunning tiara, which went to auction in 2012 and was valued at £25k, £36k in today’s money.
The most lasting memory of the wedding for most people was the Beckhams’ matching purple reception outfits, which were designed by Antonio Berardi. An average, high-quality, bespoke suit would set you back between £4-7k, but for a designer of Berardi’s quality, this would likely be closer to £10k. This would then be doubled to include both pieces and adjusted to today’s money. This works out to roughly £38k.

Total cost of the big day?
So just these handful of elements it would have cost them £321k, and it’s just a fraction of the day. And there are countless other elements that we never knew the price of which would also have come with staggering price tags.
These include:
A wedding cake designed by Damien Hirst cake, will have likely cost them rather a lot, especially considering the couple’s names were written on it in diamonds.
The decor, which was Peter Pan-themed, also couldn’t have been cheap.
The price of their wedding rings is also missing.
But don’t be too concerned about the staggering price tag, as the couple reportedly managed to secure a staggering price for the photos of their wedding. OK! magazine is said to have paid them £1m for exclusive rights, which became the highest-ever price paid for wedding photos. That would be a huge £1.92m in today’s money.
