Speculation around Kate Middleton’s health led to a bizarre coma theory circulating on social media.
Buckingham Palace denied the coma rumors, confirming the Duchess of Wales is recovering well from surgery.
King Charles is also undergoing cancer treatment, prompting Prince Harry’s short visit to the UK.

It’s been weeks since Kate Middleton reportedly underwent abdominal surgery, with the royal family announcing she’d be stepping away from her royal duties temporarily. But with the duchess not spotted in public for weeks, a bizarre fan theory suggests Kate may actually be in a coma, or at least in poor health following her treatment.

The speculation has become so intense that it prompted a response from Buckingham Palace to clarify what’s actually going on with Kate.

Thanks to her Podcast, Netflix deal and other ventures in the works, Meghan Markle is doing more than okay nowadays.

Why Fans Believe Kate Could Be In A Coma

The viral coma conspiracy theory surrounding the future queen began its circulation on social media following assertions by Spanish journalist Concha Calleja. The reporter claimed on a TV program that the life of the Princess of Wales was “in great danger” and that medical professionals had resorted to inducing a coma to save her.

Not only has Kate not been spotted for weeks, but fans further took is evidence that something was wrong after Prince William’s withdrawal from a significant public engagement due to an undisclosed “personal matter” on Tuesday.

What Buckingham Palace Says About Kate’s Condition

With the theory not dying down, the Palace released a statement indirectly denying the allegations, saying, “Princess of Wales, who is recovering from abdominal surgery, continues to be doing well.”

Previously, a palace insider denied the claims , saying, “It’s total nonsense. No attempt was made by that journalist to fact-check anything that she said with anyone in the household. It’s fundamentally, totally made-up, and I’ll use polite English here: it’s absolutely not the case.”

Kate isn’t the only royal who’s seemingly in bad health, as the Palace announced earlier this year that King Charles is undergoing treatment for cancer.

“During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer,” the palace said.

Kate is stepping away from the spotlight to focus on her kids, much like her sister-in-law did a few years ago.

“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties,” the press release went on. “Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”

“The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible,” Buckingham added. “His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”

The revelation prompted a visit to the U.K. from his estranged son Prince Harry, who apparently only visited him for under an hour. Harry’s wife Meghan Markle has been notably silent about the King’s diagnosis since the news broke.
