Prince Harry’s visit to the UK was reminiscent of the days of old, a royal expect has claimed.

Prince Harry made his return to the UK and appeared to be back to his old self, says Jane Barr in her From Berkshire to Buckingham newsletter.

Harry was in town for the Invictus Games 10-Year Anniversary with a reception at St Paul’s Cathedral in London.

Ms Barr says of his arrival: “As he alighted from the car and made his way up the 24 or so steps toward the church, it really looked like he had stepped back in time, back into his old life as a royal.”

She goes over the charity and Harry’s role: “Invictus is a charity/cause built by the monarchy as a platform for one of its senior members—a project of scope and prestige worthy of an HRH and a Prince of the United Kingdom.”

“This service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s is a classic setting for a major U.K. royal prayer service.”

While Harry’s visit may be reminiscent of his time as a senior working royal, not everyone was on board for a trip down memory lane, including his father, King Charles, who had his own plans, hosting the first Buckingham Garden Party of the year.

Ms Barr talks about the decision, saying: “The gulf between Harry and his old life was highlighted by Charles’ decision to decline a meeting with his second son.”

She adds: “Interestingly, Harry instructed his spokesman to comment on the lack of a meeting.”

“Members of the press who asked were told: ‘[A meeting] unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full program. The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.’”
