Loose Women’s biggest on-air bust-ups – savage put downs and explosive rows

After Carol McGiffin admitted the Loose Women stars are not ‘best friends’ this week, we take a look over some of the panellists biggest on-screen arguments as the tension boiled over in some very heated debates…

ITV’s flagship lunchtime panel show Loose Women is renowned for balancing lively gossip with heated debate.

However, sometimes those discussions threaten to boil over into something bigger with tempers flaring in the studio with opinionated stars clashing on a number of issues

The ladies are big characters with big opinions and their no-nonsense attitude often guarantees drama for viewers tuned in at home.

But is it the same off-screen?

This week Carol McGiffin admitted “Look, we all get on, we all like each other,” before adding: “We’re not best friends obviously.”

The stars have always denied any bigger feuds and say they leave their feelings firmly in the studio.

Coleen Nolan has previously denied she had upset a number of her co-stars after false reports a number of them were ‘refusing to work with her.’

We take a look back at some of the biggest screen rows to be broadcast on the daytime show and find out what went down…

Denise Welch V Kaye Adams

Denise Welch has certainly been at the centre of some storms over the years.

Last year, she found herself caught up in some debates surrounding Covid regulations, making it clear she felt the government’s rules made “absolutely no sense.”

Denise announced: “I will no longer abide by rules that make absolutely no sense.”

And when Kaye said that would lead to chaos, she hit back: “Maybe there has to be a bit of anarchy.”

The Scottish host told her bluntly: “To be brutal, if I have got to listen to you or Professor Chris Whitty, I’m going to go with Professor Chris Whitty.”

Myleene Klass V Denise Welch and Janet Street Porter

In 2014, Myleene Klass appeared briefly as a panellist – but soon after she took to social media, accusing the show of misogyny, as reported by The Sun.

She wrote: “I love Loose Women. It’s nice to be able to articulate and get things out there. But I feel it was getting a bit misogynistic, a bit post-menopausal or pre-menopausal and ranty.

“That’s not how women should be represented so it’s nice they’ve refreshed the panel and we can talk about politics, fashion designers and what else is going on in the week.”

Loose Women stalwart Denise Welch wasn’t happy with her comments, and hit back: “Sadly ratings suggest most viewers don’t agree with you,” before deleting the tweet.

It came after Janet Street-Porter lost her temper with the singer on-air, snapping: “I’m happiest when I’m not sat next to you Myleene!”

Saira Khan Vs everyone

Saira Khan’s exit last year certainly challenges the idea that all of the women are friends off-screen.

In fact, she said as much when she left.

The former Apprentice star said she was “absolutely not” friends with all of the show’s line-up.

She told Platinum magazine: “People think you’re best friends with everybody on Loose Women.

“You’re absolutely not! You have to just tolerate [some people] because you’ve got to get the job done.”

She then unfollowed many of her co-stars including Nadia Sawalha and Kaye Adams, whom she often shared the panel with.

Carol McGiffin V Andrea McLean

When Carol McGiffin was left off the invitation list to Andrea McLean’s wedding in 2017 she did not keep quiet about it – especially when all the other Loose Women ladies were there.

In her Best mag column, Carol wrote: “I’m ecstatic for them both, even though I wasn’t invited to the wedding.”

She added: “Andrea’s managed to squeeze in two weddings in less time than I’ve been engaged to Mark, which is a bit embarrassing to say the least.”
