Denise Welch defends Meghan Markle in ‘shouty’ debate with Loose Women co-stars

Denise Welch was accused of ‘shouting’ by Gloria Hunniford on Tuesday’s Loose Women as the panel had a very tense discussion about Meghan Markle and the royal family

Denise Welch clashed with her Loose Women co-stars on Tuesday’s show as they discussed Meghan Markle and the royal family.

The latest instalment of the iTV show saw Denise joined by Jane Moore, Brenda Edwards and Gloria Hunniford on the panel.

As Jane opened up the discussion about Meghan’s most recent interview with The Cut, Denise was keen to have her say.

“I think my views are quite clear. I think that Meghan Markle can’t do nothing right and hasn’t been able to… to live in a world where she denigrated so badly every single day…”

Gloria joined in on the conversation and said: “I respected the fact that they wanted a bit of privacy, but now, privacy to me is you go to a different country and you do not do Oprah Winfrey, do every magazine, do all sorts of deals with Netflix…”

“I disagree!” Denise butted in as Gloria reprimanded her and said: “No come on, there’s no point shaking your head,” but Denise repeated herself and commented: “I disagree Gloria!”

Gloria fired back: “But just let me finish! It’s a point that she did tell some – what was discovered – as fibs, lies, whatever you want to call them, in that Oprah Winfrey interview…”

“What and the royal family have never told any lies or fibs either? I think there’s some whoppers we’re not allowed to talk about but anyway…” Denise butted in.

“Come on Denise, hang on, you had your say,” Gloria responded, before adding: “The thing is, I admire the Queen and I admire the Royal Family, and I just think Meghan undermines all the good work that she does by spinning out these lies…”

At this point, Denise became very frustrated as she raised her voice and said: “The Queen supports Prince Andrew, Gloria! The Queen doesn’t say a word about Prince Andrew!”

“See you can’t do this without shouting,” Gloria said calmly, as Denise argued: “I’m not shouting at you, I’m shouting generally.”

Loose Women viewers were torn over Denise’s behaviour and took to Twitter to comment.

One person fumed “Denise is a disgrace. How dare she talk to Gloria in that way #LooseWomen.”

Another tweeted: “#LooseWomen disgusting behaviour, Denise does not know how to discuss, shouting showing no respect to Gloria, everyone is allowed an opinion, shutting others up by shouting over them is bullying!”

Someone else supporting Denise wrote: “I love Denise ! She’s fair and unbiased #LooseWomen.”

A different viewer posted: “#LooseWomen Denise loses her point when she gets emotional, and by not allowing others to speak arguably she is bullying. All her points are valid.”
