Tom Cruise has revealed that he has been trying to convince palDavid Beckham to break into the acting world.

The star, 48, who was in London last night for the premiere of his new film Knight and Day said Becks has “got the looks” to become a movie icon.

“I’ve been encouraging him to become an actor. He’s got the looks, he’s got everything. He’d be terrific.”

Tom and David, 35, became good mates after Beckham moved to the States to join LA Galaxy.

Cruise walked the red carpet in central London with co-star Cameron Diaz , 37, who was dressed in a glittering Stella McCartney sweater dress.

She said: “Every day we just went in and had a laugh.”

“We wanted to make a movie that people would have fun at and we had fun doing.”

“When you do a film where you want the audience to be laughing and you spend a lot of your time laughing while making it, then you know it’s going to be genuine.”

Both Tom and Cameron made a surprise appearance on BBC2 show Top Gear in a racing segment.
