The singers recently spoke about working on the track during an interview with Billboard, and the Me Gusta singer revealed that she had planned on contacting the rapper to set up a potential collaboration.

‘We were always discussing internally if it was a good idea to put someone on this song. I always pictured Cardi on this song. I reached out, and here we are,’ she said.

Cardi B admitted that she had been hoping to be able to collaborate with Shakira for an extended period of time.

‘I knew this day would come. It came…I don’t care if she wants me to meow — I’m doing it. I cannot wait. Seriously, that is my dream,’ she stated.
