Princess Kate was involved in an uncomfortable situation due to seating confusion at the late Queen’s funeral.
Princess Kate had an awkward encounter with Meghan Markle
Royal events are typically known for their grandeur and precision, but even in the most polished settings, awkward moments can occur.
One such incident took place between the Princess of Wales and Meghan Markle at Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle as the Royal Family were approaching their seats.
During the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Committal Service on September 19, 2022, members of the Royal Family were paying their final respects.
As the family filed into the chapel, Prince William had to direct his family members on when they could walk down the row of seats. Having arrived first, he told his eldest son, Prince George, to pause, but Kate was seemingly unaware and tried to walk down the aisle.
William had to then point out that they needed to wait, so she had to step back to allow Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, to make their way down.

It was then that Kate made an almost hesitant gesture as she shifted and paused to let Meghan through. Although the move was brief and subtle, the slight shuffle she made out of Meghan’s way, coupled with the tense atmosphere surrounding the event drew attention from social media.
Princess Charlotte then sat next to her uncle Prince Harry and her brother Prince George was sat inbetween his mum and dad.
It is understood the royal couple thought long and hard while having discussions with the children, before deciding they would attend the funeral.
Speculations about the relationship between Harry and Meghan and the wider Royal Family members have been a constant topic of discussion ever since Prince Harry and Meghan’s decision to step down from royal duties in early 2020.
Although both Kate and Meghan have maintained outwardly cordial in public, this brief moment of awkwardness seemed to remind royal fans of the underlying tensions within the family.
