King Charles has been fiercely protective of his daughter-in-law, Catherine, the Princess of Wales, as they both battle cancer.

This revelation comes from Christopher Anderson, author of “The King,” who spoke to Fox News Digital.

Anderson emphasized that King Charles has been a steadfast supporter of Catherine, who has been undergoing chemotherapy for an undisclosed type of cancer and has largely stayed out of the public eye during her treatment.

A spokesperson for Kensington Palace confirmed to Fox News Digital that Catherine will return to her royal duties when her medical team clears her to do so.

Over the years, there have been criticisms both inside and outside the palace regarding Catherine’s perceived lack of involvement in royal duties, such as attending numerous ceremonial events. Anderson explained that Catherine has always prioritized the well-being of her children over her royal obligations. Historically, Charles has allowed such criticisms to persist, but he is no longer tolerating any negative remarks about her. Other royal family members and staff are aware that they risk reprimand from the King if they speak ill of Catherine.

Before announcing her diagnosis in the spring, Catherine and King Charles shared a private lunch, highlighting their close relationship. In February, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing treatment. This diagnosis came following a procedure for benign prostate growth, which revealed the presence of cancer.

King Charles publicly expressed his pride in Catherine for her bravery in addressing her illness. Buckingham Palace issued a statement noting that the King and Queen Camilla will continue to offer their love and support to the entire family during this difficult period. Anderson claimed that King Charles was moved to tears by Catherine’s video announcement about her cancer diagnosis. He sees her as incredibly courageous and recognizes that the future of the monarchy heavily depends on her, given that she is not only the wife of a future king but also the mother of a future king.
