Travis Kelce makes 49ers fans regret booing him with incredible response
Chiefs team and players faced boos at Super Bowl opening night in Las Vegas
At Super Bowl Opening Night in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, the San Francisco 49ers fans made their presence felt by booing the Kansas City Chiefs at every opportunity. However, they took on the wrong guy when they interrupted a Travis Kelce interview with boos, and he trolled them back with an incredible response.
Chiefs embrace the hate
“Y’all are firing me up making me wanna play right now!” Kelce said to the crowd in response to jeers from 49ers fans.
Kansas City, led by stars Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, understands its role as the favorite, and therefore, the subject of plenty of hate. Scrutiny has followed the team all season, from its inconsistent wide receivers to allegations of favoritism because of the NFL‘s love affair with the team’s new super fan, Taylor Swift.
“I love the boos more than I love the cheers, baby. Keep ’em coming, Niners gang!” Swift’s boyfriend Kelce teased on Monday, summing up the team’s approach.
Mahomes has also spoken about embracing his role as a villain, one that is placed on both him and his family. The two-time MVP defied critics who said he couldn’t win on the road in the playoffs by beating Josh Allen in Buffalo and Lamar Jackson in Baltimore on the road to Super Bowl LVIII.
“I can be that villain for them if they need me to be,” Mahomes told ESPN’s Jeff Darlington.
