The entire NFL is reeling as news was passed down that former Indianapolis Colts cornerback Vontae Davis had tragically lost his life.

The former two-time Pro Bowl selection during his 10-year NFL career was just 35 years old.

WSVN in Miami reported a death investigation is underway after his body was found at a residence in Southwest Ranches. No foul play is suspected, police stated, but they are still investigating.

According to property records, the home is owned by Adaline Davis, who is former Miami Dolphins cornerback Vontae Davis’ grandmother.

Vontae Davis was a cornerback for the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, and Buffalo Bills during his time in the league.

Davis played college football for the Illinois Fighting Illini. He had a great freshman season for the Fighting Illini recording 30 tackles and intercepting one pass. In 2007, he started 12 games and recorded 56 tackles, including 13 in the Rose Bowl against USC, and was tied for third in the Big Ten with four interceptions.

Vontae Davis was selected by the Dolphins in the first round of the 2009 NFL draft. Over his career, he was named to two Pro Bowls. In the middle of the Bills’ opening game of the 2018 season, Davis announced his retirement from the NFL, leaving the field at halftime.

During his 10 seasons for the Indianapolis Colts, Dolphins, and Bills, he had 344 solo tackles, 51 assists, 2.0 sacks, 1 fumble recovery, and 22 interceptions.

Rest in peace to Davis and many prayers to his family as they deal with this unspeakable tragedy.

Former Indianapolis Colts-Buffalo Bills CB Vontae Davis Famously Retired In The Middle Of A Game

Vontae Davis shocked the NFL world in Week 2 of the 2018 season when he suddenly retired mid-game while a member of the Buffalo Bills.

He stated at the time that he realized he “shouldn’t be out there anymore” and told ESPN that he was mentally finished with the game. He said the decision was one of the best he ever made because he did something that was best for him.
