Loose Women star Linda Robson revealed a change in her Christmas plans last year following the end of her marriage. She disclosed that she’d be spending the holiday at her eldest daughter’s house instead of her own. During a Loose Women chat with Kaye Adams, Jane Moore and Judi Love about phone usage on Christmas Day, Linda stated: “At my house there won’t be any phones, well its not actually my house this year it’s Lauren’s house, but normally in my house it’s no phones. ” The TV star also added: “So we take the phones off them until later that day and we have a nice peaceful family time.”

Linda went on to discuss her grandkids’ addiction to their phones, reports OK!, explaining: “My grandchildren are addicted to phones. So Lila’s 11, she’s just got a phone for the first time. And Betsy’s seven and Betsy is not allowed on her laptop until the weekend or any mobile phones and she’s like on Monday, ‘is it the weekend yet’ and [Linda says] no we’ve got another five days. ” “Honestly it just sort of takes over your life because I was addicted to the phone myself,” Linda concluded. In September 2023, the star confirmed her split from husband Mark Dunford in a heartfelt chat, sharing that she’s “feeling fine” and trying to “keep busy.”

Linda and Mark’s teenage sweetheart tale took decades to blossom into marriage in 1990, and together they have a family which includes daughter Roberta, 27, son Louis, 31, and Linda’s daughter Lauren from a prior relationship. In an interview with Woman magazine, she frankly stated, “He’s a really good dad and we had some good years, but enough is enough. I’m not interested [in dating] honestly. I can’t be a***d with all that.”

We both love our kids more than anything else in the world, obviously you have a few hiccups in every marriage. We’ve been married 33 years so it’s not going to be all plain sailing, but we’re still together at the moment.” She once playfully hinted at marital friction on Loose Women last August, noting she prioritised her dog over her husband while discussing a weekend outing: “Notice the order! ” This cheeky confession sent her co-hosts into fits of laughter.

  • Charlene White and Kelly Brook clash over voting age on Loose Women: ‘It’s all kicking off’

Charlene White and Kelly Brook clash over voting age on Loose Women: ‘It’s all kicking off’

‘There’s so much misinformation out there’

Things got heated during Loose Women today (Thursday, July 17) as Charlene White and Kelly Brook went head-to-head in a fierce debate.

The Loose Women panelists were discussing the news that 16 and 17 year olds will be now be able to vote.

    And things quickly got fiery…

Charlene and Kelly clash over voting on Loose Women today

After discussing the news, Kelly weighed in with her opinion.

Kelly thinks 16 and 17 year olds shouldn’t be allowed to vote. She argued that they don’t have the “life experience” to know the importance of what their vote is going to mean.

“Who I am now and who I am at 16 are two very different people,” she said.

Charlene argued that people’s voting changes based on their age and experiences. She pointed out that someone in their twenties won’t be voting for something that affects someone of a pensionable age, for example, as it won’t affect them directly.

“But what makes me nervous is where they’re going to get the information from. There’s so much misinformation out there,” Kelly said.

She then said it made her nervous that teens would vote the same as their mates just because their friends are doing it.

“But that’s what we do as kids!” Charlene replied.

    Charlene and Kelly argue

Kelly then went on to argue: “But as an adult you’re not doing that! You’re doing it based on the fact that you’re running a business, or maybe you’ve worked really hard to put your kids in private school, maybe you’ve had a brush with the care system…”

However, Charlene was keen to interrupt, and repeatedly said: “Kel, no, no, what I’m saying is, no, no, what I’m saying is,” before Kelly eventually stopped to listen.

Charlene then said that voting needs will change as someone gets older, to which Kelly – keen to have the last word – replied: “So that’s why 16 year olds shouldn’t be voting.”

Kelly then tried to ask if the move was “so important” why it hasn’t come about before. But Charlene interrupted her again to bring fellow panellist Linda Robson into the conversation.

The Birds of a Feather actress noted that she had “never been interested”. Nadia Sawalha, meanwhile, claimed that the move may help the country “inch towards a democracy”.

    ‘Let her finish Charlene!’

Some viewers found the clash entertaining, while others picked sides.

Taking to social media, one wrote: “It’s all kicking off on #loosewomen I’m sure all its 5 viewers are enjoying Kelly Brook’s rant.”

“Go on Kelly Brook, let her finish Charlene!” another wrote.

However, some argued that Kelly was “out of her depth” with the debate. “Kelly wildly out of her depth there!!” one viewer tweeted.

Others took umbrage with the fact that Charlene kept interrupting. “Shut up Charlene with your patronising voice,” one viewer fumed.

So which side of the debate do you fall on?

  • This Morning viewers divided as Alison Hammond replaced as Dermot O’Leary’s co-host

This Morning viewers divided as Alison Hammond replaced as Dermot O’Leary’s co-host

But is she ‘living rent free’ in their heads?

Areplacement presenter for regular This Morning co-host Alison Hammond was given a warm welcome by viewers today (Friday July 18).

Stand in presenter Sian Welby charmed fans with her latest appearance on ITV’s flagship show alongside regular Friday host Dermot O’Leary.

But as some of Alison’s detractors sniped at her on social media, others joked the beloved telly fave is ‘living rent free’ in their heads.

    Viewers praise Sian Welby

Sian has always received plaudits from those watching at home whenever she pops up on This Morning to deputise for the series’ regular stars.

That was also the case today, with X users calling for her to be given even more showings on the programme.

“Love Sian on This Morning, she should be on more regularly #ThisMorning,” read one such post.

“Sian is a breath of fresh air with Dermot on #ThisMorning @thismorning,” wrote a second admirer.

A third pleaded: “Can we keep Sian forever please? #ThisMorning.”

Can we keep Sian forever please?

To which someone else replied: “Yes please. She is so natural, so nice and perfect for this job!”

However, amid comparison to other This Morning presenters, other viewers used their preference for Sian to slam Alison.

‘Friday just got a whole lot better’

Harshly disparaging Alison as an “embarrassing laughing muppet”, one hater posted how it was “good news” that “the lovely Sian [is] presenting instead”. “A huge plus,” they celebrated, comparing the two co-hosts.

“Yay a Friday without Alison… there is a God! #ThisMorning,” rejoiced another X user.

A third wrote: “Friday just got a whole lot better. @alisonhammond not on @thismorning ! Spooo much improved without her! Without her even dreary O’Leary is acting, almost, like an adult! Make it permanent @ITV.”

And someone else couldn’t help but mention Alison as they sneered: “Since Alison is busy appearing on every show that going maybe they should get Sian to present the show with Dermot on a Friday! Natural chemistry and Dermot seems a lot calmer in her presence #ThisMorning.”

Why wasn’t Alison Hammond on This Morning today?

Alison, who is hosting the show for a number of days next week as the presenting line-up is shook up by the summer holidays, appears to have been on a little break recently.

Her Instagram Stories yesterday (Thursday July 17) indicated she had spent time in Cheddar Gorge in Somerset exploring caves.

But, as one X user noted, it seems her presence is always felt by those This Morning viewers who have a strong antipathy towards her.

“#ThisMorning Alison living rent free in people’s heads even on her day off,” they observed, adding a chuckling emoji to their words.

  • Dame Prue Leith sets record on Great British Bake Off exit after quitting celebrity specials

Dame Prue Leith sets record on Great British Bake Off exit after quitting celebrity specials

The Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith has been a show judge since it moved to Channel 4 from the BBC in 2017 and has given an update after she quit the celebrity version

Dame Prue Leith has addressed the rumours that she is going to quit The Great British Bake Off. The renowned TV chef, replaced Dame Mary Berry as a judge on the TV favourite when it moved to Channel 4 in 2017, and has been seen alongside Paul Hollywood ever since.

She has also gone on to host Prue Leith’s Cotswolds Kitchen for ITV and last year appeared on The Masked Singer. But, earlier this year, she did not appear on the celebrity edition of Bake Off so fans are always asking her if she has quit for good.

But that is not the case, and during an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine, she told viewers that she only stopped appearing the celebrity version because she needed a break, explaining: “I keep being asked if I’m leaving. This is because I left the celebrity [version]. I stopped doing that last year because I just hadn’t had a holiday in the summer for eight years. I’ve only given up Celebrity [Bake Off].”

    Dame Prue Leith

The TV favourite is currently busy filming the American version of the baking show, and confirmed that she is still very much a part of the original programme. She said: “I still do The Great American Bake Off, which we are filming at the moment, and I still do The Great British Bake Off, which I love, and is the mother of them all.”

Prue, who was replaced by Caroline Waldegrave as a judge on the latest series of the Stand Up 2 Cancer specials, has no intention of leaving the regular version of the programme, adding: “It’s the best job in telly. It’s absolutely the best job in telly, I don’t have to learn lines, I don’t have to have script. I just walk on and eat cake.”

The star was also quick to heap praise on the addition of Alison Hammond as presenter, who replaced Matt Lucas in 2023 and now carries out hosting duties with Noel Fielding. Noting that the Big Brother legend has had a big impact on the team, she said: “I think Alison has made a huge difference to the team, she gets on so well with Noel with all of us. She’s so loving and the bakers adore her, she’s like Big Mama!”

It was reported earlier this year that Prue had chosen to step back from her duties on the show to relish some well-deserved rest. And at the time, she disclosed: “It’s mainly because these things are filmed back to back.”

She went on to say: “The whole way through the summer, so you start in April and you end at the end of August. Honestly, you get no time off. And, I’m getting a bit old and there’s places I want to go.”

But her replacement is no newbie to the small screen, as Caroline has graced programmes like Chef School, Masterchef, and Tricks of the Trade, and she has also penned several cookbooks. As The Great Celebrity Bake Off gears up for its latest season this weekend, Lady Waldegrave shared her thoughts on succeeding Dame Prue Leith as a judge. She confessed: “I was completely terrified.”

Katie Price could be left homeless as she faces having to move out of her rental property. The former glamour model turned TV star has been extremely open about her living situations in the past, having been forced to give up her Mucky Mansion home due to mounting debts.

Now, the 47-year-old currently resides in a mock Tudor style, four-bedroomed property in Sussex, where she has lived for eight months. Katie rents the home for around £5,000 per month. But now, Katie has opened up about her future in the property and admits she’s come to a crossroads.

Despite claiming to rake in a fortune from her lucrative adult subscription page and brand deals, Katie has said she’s struggling to find a guarantor so she can rent a new house.

“I was supposed to have this place for about two years,” she said of her current home, before adding: “The guy who owns it – such a nice guy – he let me have the place even though I didn’t have a guarantor.

“And I’ve been on time with all the payments, as you should, bills and everything. But now he wants to sell it.” Speaking on her podcast, The Katie Price Show with sister Sophie, Katie continued: “It p****s me off. Some houses I look at, I can’t get a guarantor. Some people don’t earn money like me to be a guarantor.

“One house I do want, the landlord wants six months’ rent up front in case I miss a payment and he also wants a guarantor – even though I’ve got the best reference ever from this guy. It’s so annoying. Because that guy has read the papers and that, I get judged on it. It’s so annoying.”

However, Katie is struggling to find a guarantor to help her rent a new home

Sophie attempted to clear the air with Katie, explaining: “Nowadays with renting they are asking for more, it is more competitive.” But Katie, who has never shied away from her struggles revealed: “The truth is people don’t realise I got into all that bankruptcy stuff not because I didn’t want to pay but because I had a breakdown.”

The TV star has been declared bankrupt on two occasions, firstly in November 2019 and the second in March 2024. Both of which, were discharged. Her former home, Mucky Mansion, which she purchased in 2014 from Francis Maude was put up for sale in December after she was evicted due to financial troubles.

Katie was forced to give up her Mucky Mansion due to mounting debts
Katie was forced to give up her Mucky Mansion due to mounting debts

Earlier this month, Katie explained she had started to look for a new house on Rightmove after being informed her landlord wanted to sell the home. She commented: “I’ve got to move house as the guy who owns it wants to sell the house now. So, I’ve got to go on the house hunt again.

“I might go closer to the kids’ school. I am gonna talk to the guy, he might let me stay there a bit longer but he might not.” However, if she can’t stay, Katie is eager to move closer to her children’s schools.

In December, she finally found a buyer for Mucky Mansion after she cut the price on two occasions. The home was initially listed for £1.5million, before being lowered to £1.35 million.

However the star, who was evicted after failing to pay the mortgage, later lowered it to £1.15 million. But she didn’t see a penny from the sale as it was taken to cover the debts she had owed.

A video message from Fiona Phillips has been shared by her husband Martin Frizell this week. It comes following the release of her memoir in which she opens up about her experience of living with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.

Former GMTV host Fiona, 64, announced in 2023 that she had been diagnosed with dementia the previous year. The Mirror columnist has since worked on the newly-released book Remember When: My Life with Alzheimer’s, with the help of Martin, 66, and journalist Alison Phillips.

Following its publication, Martin took to Instagram this afternoon to share a message from his wife, who’s said to forgotten that she was writing a book by the time they reached its final chapters. He posted footage of Fiona thanking fans for their support over the memoir’s release.

Gogglebox star ‘bullied by abusive dad’ in horror admission

Larry Lamb has opened up about his tough upbringing at the hands of a father who ‘bullied him’ – but admits proudly as he chats candidly with son George that he has ‘broken the cycle’…

Larry Lamb may be best known as level-headed dad Mick in Gavin & Stacey, but the actor says his own path to fatherhood hasn’t been so simple. Born in Middlesex, the 77-year-old had a turbulent childhood, raised by a verbally abusive father – previously admitting that he “lived in fear” growing up.

Sitting down with OK! for an exclusive chat alongside his son George, 45, with whom he has been an armchair critic on Gogglebox, Larry says he was worried about his abilities to raise children before he finally “broke the cycle”.

“If you are not fathered well, you’re not going to be a good father yourself. You’re just not. So, of course that was a worry,” says Larry. As well as George he also has three daughters – Vanessa, 56, who he isn’t in contact with, and Eloise, 26, and Eva, 22, whose mother is Clare Burt, who he split up with in 2014.

Crediting George’s mum Linda Martin, who he split up with in 1996, for his ability to become a great father to his three youngest children, Larry says, “She cut the cycle because my poor old dad was bullied by his dad and was passing it on to me. So, she realised that was not going to allow George and me to flourish – and she stepped in. So, big points to Linda. She broke the cycle and made sure it didn’t happen again.”

George adds, “My mum did a lot of the heavy lifting when I was little. She was the disciplinarian. So that meant that me and my dad got to be friends, you know? While that was tough on Mum, the good news is, me and Dad got to be mates, despite it all – and that was quite beautiful.”

    Gavin & Stacey
Gavin & Stacey icon Larry recently said he’d ‘quit acting’ aside from minor roles(Image: Alan Chapman/Dave Benett/Getty I)

Clearly enjoying a close relationship, Larry and George say they’ve both taken life lessons from one another. “I feel loved unconditionally by my dad and that’s a really nice feeling, says George. “It feels very grounding, very safe.” Larry adds, “That’s it. Too often, love is transactional, but there’s no transaction between me and George or any of our family.”

Chatty and relaxed as we talk, the duo crack jokes with each other like it’s second nature. But Larry admits he hasn’t always been so happy-go-lucky. It was only when he hit 60, he says, that he let go of some heavy emotional baggage.

“As you get older, you don’t take things for granted any more,” he says. “That’s what went on in my life – if good things came along, I was taking them for granted. Now, I realise that I’m actually very fortunate if things are going well for me.”

He doesn’t look back on his past with regret, however. “It’s a big enough deal to realise that you’ve not done things as sensibly as you might have, so there’s no point in having regrets,” says Larry. “You’ve just got to get on with it and arm yourself with that knowledge, make yourself a better person.”

George has noticed a shift in his dad, saying he has become softer with age. “I’ve got little sisters who are 20 years younger than me and their dad and my dad are different. Even though he was the same person, he was a very different dad,” he explains, saying his siblings got a “lighter” version of Larry.

But in many ways, the pair seem alike and with such similar personalities, it’s no surprise that George ended up following his father into showbiz. Fronting shows such as The Bank Job and Big Brother’s Little Brother, George was one of TV ’s rising stars. But the former TV and radio presenter – who, laughing, admits people approach him in the street to ask how ‘Mick’ is doing – did quite the 360 in recent years, turning his sights towards regenerative farming.

He now co-owns food and farming company Wildfarmed and clearly has no regrets about ducking out of the limelight. “I had lots of amazing experiences in showbusiness, but a lot of the time I didn’t know why I was doing what I was doing,” he says. “Now, I get up every day and understand my purpose. With Wildfarmed, we’re trying to grow food in a way that works in harmony with nature rather than against it. So, it makes me feel good every day. I feel blessed.”

“George has changed now,” Larry interjects proudly. “He’s got a real sense of value knowing what he’s doing and why. It’s a joy to see him in his mid-forties and a new man compared to when he was working in showbiz. He’s hit something that’s clearly driving him.”

George and Larry evidently enjoy each other’s company and are working alongside National Rail on its 36 Questions To Connect campaign, designed to encourage travellers to get to know friends and family they’re taking train journeys with better. While they may have thought they already knew each other well, they say they learned even more through the questions during a recent journey.

“You know what’s baffling about my dad?” George asks. “He’s been on Earth for a long time and he’s lived a very full life so, even though you think you’ve heard all his stories a thousand times, every time we hang out I’m like, ‘Wow, this is a new bit.’”

With one of the questions asking for one quality they admire in each other, Larry told George on their train trip that it was his honesty. “He does give me some hard truths!” says Larry. “Whether you like it or not, you’ll get honesty from George. But I’m fortunate that I’ve got somebody who does that – you need it.”

George adds, “I’m always honest – I don’t want surface- level relationships. There’s enough of that in the world and I certainly don’t want that with my loved ones – and someone has to keep my dad in check!”

Emmerdale’s John Sugden will claim another victim after leaving someone to die amid a medical emergency, with a body set to be found by another villager on the ITV soap

An Emmerdale character is set to be found dead in a brutal new twist.

Killer John Sugden strikes again, after scenes on Friday saw him take brutal action. Stumbling across someone having a medical emergency, with them clearly lifeless, John made a decision that led to him effectively claiming another victim.

Killer John Sugden strikes again, after scenes on Friday saw him take brutal action. Stumbling across someone having a medical emergency, with them clearly lifeless, John made a decision that led to him effectively claiming another victim.

While seemingly unplanned, John visited the house of patient Owen, the newcomer who drugged John’s brother Robert Sugden recently, only to find him dying. He was found slouched and pale on the sofa, clearly needing urgent help.

John initially began to act, checking for a pulse before preparing to call the emergency services. But he suddenly stopped and decided to take a more brutal action, leaving him to die.

Not only did he cover his tracks and wipe away any evidence of him having been there, he literally left Owen dying on the sofa knowing he would not be saved. It wasn’t really clear if he was breathing when John checked his pulse, as John didn’t begin trying to resuscitate him so perhaps he was still alive.

That said he was motionless and didn’t look good at all. Given John’s plan to frame him for Nate Robinson’s murder, it did seem that Owen was in fact dead, or that John knew by the time he would be found he would have died.

John wrote up something on Owen’s laptop which is discovered by the police next week, after they find his dead body where John left it. Liam Cavanagh will discover the death after the doctor visits Owen on a callout, and when he can’t get through to him he calls the police.

Liam had actually turned up on Friday, before noting to John something did not seem right. Liam had no idea John was there, panicked, when the former showed up to see Owen.

John remained out of sight and silent until Liam left, before he fled himself. Liam’s concern leads to the discovery of Owen’s body next week, as well as a ‘suicide note’ and a confession to Nate’s death.

Owen is found dead, and John’s plan goes as he hopes as Owen is made the prime suspect in Nate’s murder. Nate’s family are told and John feigns surprise over the news.

So John has now claimed another victim, months on from killing Nate and dumping his body in the lake. John didn’t actually kill Owen, who seemed to overdose, but he still knowingly let him die on purpose.

The medic did not raise the alarm or help him, and instead chose to basically watch him die so he could set him up for his own dark crime. He then left the scene, leaving his body behind without telling anyone what had happened.

Owen very likely could have been saved if John had acted or called for help. The only issue is Claudette Anderson tells John’s brother Robert next week how John had visited the house before he died, so perhaps he hasn’t entirely covered his tracks.
