Olly Murs misses radio show after wild night out as Mark Wright says ‘no one can find him’

Singer Olly Murs failed to show up to present his radio show alongside Mark Wright after he partied hard the night before to celebrate the release of his new single

It has been three years since he released new music. So it’s perhaps understandable that Olly Murs was desperate to celebrate the upcoming release of his new single. But it looks as though Olly, 41, may have taken his celebration a little too far as he failed to show up to present his radio show the following morning.

Olly co-hosts the Heart Radio breakfast show alongside former TOWIE star Mark Wright. Olly’s new song Save Me comes after the announcement that he was to become a father for the second time with wife Amelia.

Sat by himself in the radio studio, Mark told listeners: “So if you’ve been listening to Heart this morning, you’ll know that my co-host Mr Olly Murs isn’t in.” And to make matters worse an Instagram clip was shared of Olly partying in a bar.

Mark added: “No one can find him. Didn’t know where he was. And someone has just sent this into the studio. Him out last night, caught on CCTV in a bar or a pub.”

He continued: “So he’s obviously out, had a late night and not turned up to the studio. Very professional Olly Murs, I like it. Yeah, very good.” Suffering from a heavy hangover, Olly then took to social media to recount the night before.

He wrote on his Instagram story: “Last night was mad! Might’ve gone a bit too hard while celebrating the new single coming out with the boys…”

He added: “Also seem to have lost my wallet if anyone finds it.” He then shared Mark’s Heart Radio clip. And captioned it saying: “Can’t believe I missed the show today. Man does my head hurt!”

Earlier this year, Olly underwent an impressive body transformation. Following a gruelling gym regime Olly shared images of himself with a ripped six-pack torso.

And he recently posted a video on his Instagram account which showed him doing pull-ups, boxing, cycling and weight-lifting.

Olly became a father last April as he welcomed his daughter Madison. At the time, Olly was left devastated as just days after the birth of his first child, as it coincided with his tour dates with Take That.

At the time he confessed on his breakfast radio show: “It was really hard for me as I had to leave two days after the baby was born to go on tour with Take That.”

He added: “I didn’t really process it at the time and a few months later me and Amelia were chatting and I just broke down in tears as I never got a chance to actually get to know this little baby.”

And now a year on, Olly is set to become a father for the second time. Sharing his happy news on social media, he shared a black and white image of the family on an Easter walk together. He captioned the post saying: “We’re so egg-cited to share this..… Another Baby Murs on the way.”

Iconic band S Club 7 has been hit by a series of tragedies in recent years and on of its band members has now revealed a harrowing drug addiction which saw him almost die

S Club 7 star Jon Lee has revealed for the first time he has suffered a secret drug addiction which saw him get sectioned and almost killed him. Don’t Stop Movin’ singer Jon shot to fame in the late ’90s and early ’00s as part of legendary pop band S Club 7.

Jon became a household name with the rest of his bandmates for their wholesome, uplifting pop beats. However, Jon’s life had a dark side as he’s now revealed his secret drug addiction battles after the height of his fame.

Jon has admitted he “didn’t recognise himself” because of the deadly habit, which caused psychotic episodes. He revealed: “I didn’t even recognise myself at that time. Sometimes, in the midst of one of the psychotic episodes where I’d be smashing my flat up with a hammer, I’d catch sight of myself in the mirror and say: “What the f***?”.

Photo shows five of the members from hit band S Club 7; Bradley, Rachel, Jo, Hannah and Jon stood posing together at Magic Radio station

Jon added to the Daily Mail: “I’d have a moment of lucidity, thinking: ‘I was a successful young man, I had a brilliant career, incredible life. What am I doing?’.”

The singer recalls standing in his home with ‘holes in the walls around me, cuts all over my knuckles, my eye swollen from where I’d been punching myself in the head’ and harrowingly said he ‘didn’t look anything like Jon-from-S-Club’.

Jon revealed he began taking crystal meth when he was in his 30s, after S Club had gone their separate ways. His addiction, which cost him £250-a-week, saw his concerned neighbours call the emergency services around six years ago when he was ‘smashing the place up’ around 3am.

He was met in ‘a frenzied state’ by paramedics, who took him into an ambulance and he was taken to ‘some sort of clinic’ – Jon doesn’t exactly recall – where he was sectioned and held overnight.

Recalling that pivotal moment in his life, he explained: “I remember I had to keep the door open, and someone sat outside. I suppose I was a danger to myself.”

But Crystal Meth was not the only drug Jon was experimenting with as he told the publication he also tried GHB, which is a liquid ecstasy.

But again, Jon was taking this drug to the extreme as he explained he would take four times the dose. He claimed that he regularly took more than was required, because he hoped he would not wake up. He admitted: “I’m not sure how I’m still here.”

The former popstar publicly came out as gay in 2010 and believed his issues with drugs stemmed from being propelled into fame at a young age and trying to hide his sexuality from the public.

Jon would drink to supress his anxiety surrounding his sexuality and his preference being exposed. This increased after the band split.

At the time he would regularly drink and take cocaine, ecstasy and marijuana. He continued to tell the publication: “If I didn’t have work, I could drink three quarters of a bottle of gin in the afternoon.”

David Beckham admits ‘it looks terrible’ as wife Victoria shares hair disaster

Victoria Beckham shared with fans a humiliating moment for husband David as she posted a clip of his hairdressing disaster which she honestly describes as ‘terrible’

David Beckham’s hairstyles have set the trend for most men over the years. But judging by Victoria Beckham’s recent Instagram post showing off his latest look, it doesn’t seem as though many will be following in his footsteps this time round.

The former pop star turned renowned fashion designer, 50, asks David while holding the camera to his face: “what have you done?”

When he refuses to respond, she asks him the same question again. Sheepishly, the former England football player looks away from the camera while strategically placing his hand on his head.

He then admits: ” The thing of the clippers fell off my head.” Revealing the accident, he bends his head towards Victoria who zooms in on his shaving disaster as she struggles to contain her laughter.

Looking up at her, David says with a serious look on his face that it was “not funny.”

And in response, she the mum of four says: “Do you know the hours of content that the kids have got from this. It does not looks good. I’m going to always be honest with you. It looks terrible.”

And it seems her followers shared the same sentiment. One person wrote: “I like the victory laugh.” Another penned: “Look at the good side it’s summer and you can allow your head to catch sun rays. Victoria is very supportive and sincere.”

But not everyone seemed to agree as one person said: “I always find vb a bit condescending to David.” This comes after pictures emerged of their eldest son Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham taking time out to enjoy a holiday in St Tropez.

And while there where pictures of the couple, who have only been married for three years, putting on a united front while hugging and kissing on her father’s yacht, body language expert Judi James spotted something completely different.

Nicola is seen clutching Brooklyn’s hand as they made their way off the yacht and she looked strained. And this prompted Judi to recognise that Brooklyn’s natural protective nature has kicked in amid the feud with his family.

In an exclusive chat with the Mirror, Judi explains: “With her distant, expressionless eye gaze and her hand either clutching Brooklyn’s arm or encased in his hand, Nicola is looking like the tragic heroine here, perhaps wanting to suggest some vulnerability and strain behind her normally cool and confident exterior.”

She added: “This is a look that might make most caring husbands wary and trigger their protective side, which is what appears to have happened with Brooklyn here. While his wife walks along in her dramatic black fur tippet and with her hand placed on her bag to provide an emphatic and perhaps symbolic display of her wedding rings, Brooklyn looks more relaxed and dominant.”

Judi continued: “Clutching her hand in his with his, with the back of his hand showing fully and the wrist bent in a protective clasp. His mood looks confident and even rather upbeat here as though he enjoys being the strong guy in the relationship. His chest is splayed, his arms are held out and there’s a smile brewing on his face.”

Body language expert Judi James believes Nicola Peltz Beckham appears to be under ‘strain’ and showing signs of vulnerability amid ongoing feud with her husband Brooklyn’s family

The feud between Brooklyn Beckham and his family has been ongoing for months, so it’s perhaps understandable that the tense situation is finally starting to show in Nicola Peltz Beckham’s appearance.

Recent photos show ‘distance’ as the pair took time out of their busy schedules to enjoy time onboard her father’s yacht in St Tropez, France.

But it looks as though despite their show of unity, it was clear Nicola, 30, is now struggling to hide the strain the feud between Brooklyn and his family is having on her as body language expert Judi James laments.

In an exclusive chat with the Mirror, Judi told us: “With her distant, expressionless eye gaze and her hand either clutching Brooklyn’s arm or encased in his hand, Nicola is looking like the tragic heroine here, perhaps wanting to suggest some vulnerability and strain behind her normally cool and confident exterior.”

She added: “This is a look that might make most caring husbands wary and trigger their protective side, which is what appears to have happened with Brooklyn here. His mood looks confident and even rather upbeat here as though he enjoys being the strong guy in the relationship. His chest is splayed, his arms are held out and there’s a smile brewing on his face.”

Rumours of a feud in the Beckham clan have reached fever pitch in recent weeks as Brooklyn and his brothers Cruz and Romeo appeared to unfollow one another on social media. After reports that Brooklyn had been the one to press the unfollow button surfaced, it was later reported the hot sauce company owner was ‘blindsided’, and it was claimed Romeo and Cruz has in fact ‘blocked’ him in a move branded as the “Gen Z version of World War Three”.

Weeks earlier, it was widely noticed that Brooklyn had failed to turn up at both his parents’ birthday celebrations and failed to pay tribute to them on social media. He also appeared to publicly ignore his dad’s long-awaited knighthood, but paid tribute to his father-in-law in a post.

Nicola and Brooklyn married in 2022 in a lavish ceremony. But even back then, whispers about the tense relationship between Victoria Beckham and Nicola began to emerge.

This came on the back of Victoria reportedly being snubbed when it came to designing Nicola’s wedding dress. Nicola had opted to wear a gown by Valentino.

And in an interview with Grazia US, she revealed at the time: “We connected to start designing the dress, and then a few days went by and I didn’t hear anything. Victoria called my mom and said her atelier couldn’t make it.”

And addressing reports that she specifically chose to not wear a dress made by her mother-in-law, she told the publication that she felt “hurt”.

Nicola explained: “It does hurt my feelings. I try not to let it, but it’s just not the truth. It’s just a bit of a bummer when you’re like: ‘Oh, people think that,’ but it’s just not true.”

Since then, the relationship between Brooklyn and his family has continued to get worsen and the recent social media antics amongst the Beckhams show no sign that the feud is going to dampen.

EastEnders’ Anthony Trueman set to return to soap with emotional reunion after 11 years

EastEnders have announced yet another return to Albert Square, as Patrick and Yolande are set to be surprised by a special guest during their upcoming nuptials this summer

EastEnders fans can prepare for yet another iconic return to Albert Square this summer, as Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) will be reunited with his son Anthony as he and Yolande prepare to tie the knot.

Nicholas Bailey will be reprising his role as Anthony Trueman 11 years after he was last seen on screens. Anthony was last seen in 2014, when his father suffered a stroke. He’s been away ever since, but of course, he receives an invite to his father’s wedding – and it’s an offer he can’t decline.

Although he’s back for the wedding, Anthony’s stay ends up lasting longer than he expected as he uncovers what has been going on in the Trueman household…

    Anthony Trueman
Anthony will be returning for Patrick’s wedding

Anthony’s return is just one of the many legendary returns to Walford under new Executive Producer Ben Wadey’s time in charge. During his first episode last month, EastEnders fans were left in shock when Michelle Ryan reprised her role as Zoe Slater after two decades.

The soap has also recently seen the return of Oscar Branning and Julie Bates, with Max Branning (Jake Wood) set to return this autumn.

Speaking about his return, Nicholas said: “It is an unexpected treat to return to EastEnders and I’m full of gratitude to get the opportunity to revisit the character of Anthony. It’s wonderful to work with Rudolph Walker again – he’s such a big part of my journey as an actor and I loved filming my first scenes with him after so long.

“I’m excited to see what the passage of time has done to Anthony and explore his relationship with Patrick at this stage in their lives.”

Adding to this, Executive Producer Ben Wadey said: “It’s great to welcome Nicholas back to the EastEnders family to reunite Patrick with his son. But Anthony’s plan for a brief return to surprise his father ends up with him staying longer than he expected when he uncovers what has been going on in the Trueman household.”

During his time on the Square in the early 2000s, Anthony had relations with Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) and her daughter Zoe Slater. Could we be seeing more drama with the Slaters?

Nicholas has always been interested in returning to the soap, previously stating that he was “ready to go back,” two years after his exit.

“My wife wants me to get back to work,” he told The Express in 2017. “She’s desperate for me to do [EastEnders] – so I will.

“I’ve had two years off and I think that was enough for me. I’m ready to go back if they’ll have me. It’s the best gig on TV.”

Rob Brydon wants to channel Claudia Winkleman on huge new BBC1 adventure show

Gavin & Stacey star Rob Brydon says he admires The Traitors host Claudia Winkleman’s “lightness of touch” on the hit BBC show as he prepares to front a new programme for the Beeb

Rob Brydon jumped at the chance to host new BBC1 adventure reality show Destination X – because he thinks it will be a big hit like The Traitors. And the comedy star admitted he has even tried to emulate Claudia Winkleman’s “lightness of touch” when it comes to his role as host.

In the show, 13 players set off to travel around Europe on a blacked out bus and are given clues and challenges to help work out where they are – along with red herrings. Each time the bus stops, they must guess their location, and the person furthest away is eliminated. The last one standing wins a cash prize of £100,000.

Rob, 60 said he greatly admired the way Claudia conducts herself on The Traitors. “I think she judges it just right. She doesn’t force herself to the front, she is there as a conduit, as a bridge for the viewer and you feel like you’re with a really good friend who is allowing you into this world.

    Rob Brydon

“I wanted to avoid going, ‘Hey, here I am, I’m going to do my thing now’. I wanted to be a nice pleasant way to bring people into the show with a nice comment here and there. You sometimes need to remind yourself not to dominate, but they are very strong characters. The relationships developed as they went along and you don’t want to get in the way of that.”

Dad-of-five Rob watched TheTraitors with wife Claire and their two teenage sons Tom, 17, and 14-year-old George, but said he didn’t think he’d be a fan. “I heard about The Traitors and thought, ‘Oh, that’s not for me’. And then we were away on holiday and we gave it a try and we devoured it. I loved it. It was one of the big reasons I wanted to do Destination X because I could see similarities.”

Filming on the big-budget, 10-part series for BBC1 took place across the whole of Europe for 32 days and involved an army of nearly 200 people who were responsible for driving the main bus, a toilet bus and a sleeping bus to the various destinations, plus keeping the contestants in the dark.

    Destination X
BBC bosses are hoping that viewers at home with join in with trying to work out where the players are in Destination X(Image: CREDIT LINE:BBC/TwoFour)

Rob, best known for playing Uncle Bryn in comedy Gavin & Stacey and for hosting panel-show Would I Lie to You, said he equally enjoys his different roles as actor and presenter. “I genuinely love the variety of my career, I enjoy having the opportunity to do different things. Some people who act wouldn’t be comfortable presenting – you’d be surprised how many actors wouldn’t like it if you told them they were going to do something without a script.

“But I consider myself hugely fortunate to be given opportunities. Ultimately, having a live audience is my favourite. And sometimes with Destination X I’d say a funny line and they’d laugh and that’s an audience. But you don’t want to dominate and do too much.”

Claudia hosts the hit series The Traitors
Claudia hosts the hit series The Traitors(Image: BBC / Studio Lambert / Cody Burridge)

He says another reason for signing up was because he thought his teenage sons might just watch it. “What I love about this show is that it’s for the family. I love shows that you can sit and watch together, it is a thing to persuade your teenage sons to spend time in your company, which is no mean feat.

“I hope this becomes appointment viewing for a family. If you’re anything like me as a parent, you’re desperate for the stuff that can get the kids to spend time with you.”

The format originated in Belgium and now the gameshow has enjoyed three hit series there, and has also been a a big success in Denmark and the Netherlands. As with The Traitors, the British version was filmed at the same time as a US version, for NBC.

Rob said the two shows felt quite different. “A lot of the contestants on the American one are familiar reality faces and they are a lot more sure of themselves. They are performers in their own way and I’m told they were playing the game from the off, to win. That’s a very different vibe. With ours they start saying, ‘We’re a team’ – which can’t last. Ours is quintessentially British.”

But Rob said if he had to work out where in Europe he was based on clues and his directional skills he wouldn’t know where to start. “I’d struggle,” he admitted. “I don’t think I’d have a clue working out where we were.”

And his biggest challenge was deciding how to hold himself after years of sitting behind a desk on Would I Lie to You. “That first scene, walking into the airport, I’m thinking, ‘Right, OK, how am I going to be?’ he chuckled. “Because I’ve got a horrible walk – I walk like an ape. Not with my knuckles on the ground but I walk side to side. So I’m thinking, ‘Try not to walk like an idiot’.”

The Chase has been on air via ITV since 2009 – and while winning the show is a rare event, one former contestant has revealed secret advice he was given about the prize money

A former contestant from The Chase has revealed details of what happens if a team win the show – and the advice ITV gives regarding eliminated teammates and the prize fund.

Viewers of the ITV show will be well aware that success is rare on the general knowledge quiz show. A group of four team together to test their knowledge against one of the genius Chasers – which includes Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Jenny Ryan, Darragh Ennis and Paul Sinha.

The brain boxes play under the respective code names The Beast, The Dark Destroyer, The Governess, The Vixen, The Menace and The Sinnerman. After the individual rounds, where the contestants try to get home without being caught, the team then take on the chaser in another round of general knowledge.

If the team answer more questions correctly than the Chaser, they win the prize fund that has been amassed over the course of the show – but the money is divided between those that succeeded.

If a teammate is eliminated before the final, the winning team members are seemingly advised not to share any of the money with team members who were caught during the chase rounds. A former contestant named Steven Sneade, 69, from Liverpool, revealed all to the Daily Mail.

The Chase has been on the air since 2009

He said: “If you win you have to sign another contract as you’re accepting money from them. They told us not to give money to the contestants who didn’t win money just because you feel sorry for them.

“They can’t stop you, but I think they just don’t want you to have that in mind. They said it could take three months, but I had it in a week.”

The Chase has been on the air since 2009 and has aired over 2,500 episodes so far. The long-running game show is hosted by Bradley Walsh, 65 – who also hosts a variety of other shows, including the BBC series Gladiators.

It is rare for contestants to win The Chase

While he has been helming the show for 16 years, the entertainer has revealed he has no plans to walk away from the show. In a recent interview, he explained he would quit if the series lost its audience.

He said: “Until people say they’ve had enough and start switching off, I’ll do it. We’ve had such an extraordinary time together. It’s the best job in the world.”

He also reflected on filming the pilot episode, which was recorded back in 2008 with chasers Shaun Wallace and Mark Labbett involved. He recalled: “The audience was made up of ITV bosses and they found someone in the office to be a contestant.”

“Straight away I took the contestant’s side. I saw the Chasers as these big, all-knowing, bully types, so I started taking the mickey out of them. When they got a question wrong, I really gave it to them, and everyone was laughing. That’s when I knew we had something.”

The Chase has spawned a number of spin-offs – with celebrity specials and a version of the show were contestants can take on the whole line-up of chasers.International versions of the show have appeared in 20 other countries including Australia, the USA, Spain and Germany. Some members of the UK version of The Chase have appeared in international versions – with Mark and Shawn featuring in the line-up in Australia.

Coronation Street Mick actor Joe Layton ‘set for Hollywood’ after ITV soap exit

Coronation Street actor Joe Layton has played the role of Mick Michaelis on the cobbles since earlier this year but could soon be switching Weatherfield for Hollywood

    Coronation Street
Coronation Street star Joe Layton could be destined for Hollywood

Coronation Street’s Joe Layton, known for his role as the menacing Mick Michaelis, could be on the brink of a major Hollywood breakthrough. Joe burst onto the scene earlier this year as the ruthless thug Mick, alongside his partner Lou (Farrel Hegarty).

Labelled as “nightmare neighbours,” the pair quickly became notorious for causing chaos. In a shocking turn of events in May, Mick brutally murdered Weatherfield’s beloved Craig Tinker ( Colson Smith ) in a harrowing alcohol-fuelled attack.

It was then revealed that he also regularly abused Lou adding to the disdain for his character from viewers who were shocked to see how truly evil he was capable of being. After Craig’s tragic end, Mick found himself behind bars. However, this week saw an explosive development as he broke free from custody.

In a desperate search for his child, Mick stabbed Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) before being caught again and sent back to prison. Now, with Mick’s time on the cobbles drawing to a close, speculation is rife about actor Joe’s next move with his frantic on-screen demeanour capturing the imagination of TV fans.

    Coronation Street
Joe caused chaos on the cobbles as Mick Michaelis

Betway has provided odds on his next step that place Joe at a not too shabby 3/1 to hop over to rival soap EastEnders. But that isn’t the only soap where he could show up, as Joe is also sitting at 5/1 to land a role on Channel 4’s Hollyoaks.

When it comes to reality TV prospects, he’s got odds of 8/1 for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and 10/1 for Strictly Come Dancing where fans would get to learn more about him as opposed to his on-screen alter ego Mick.

But it’s not just small screen opportunities on the horizon for Joe. He could find himself making his way into the cinematic universe too.

Bookies are betting that the big screen could come knocking and he might snag a role in a blockbuster Hollywood franchise. Joe currently stands at 16/1 to appear in a Marvel film, and 50/1 to potentially become the next James Bond.

    Coronation Street
    Mick brought terror to Weatherfield

Mike Reading, spokesperson at Betway told the Daily Star: “After playing brutal villain Mick Michaelis on Coronation Street, Joe Layton is now a 3/1 shot to bring his bad-boy energy to EastEnders.

“Having made headlines for his character’s violent past and dramatic prison escape, Layton looks ready-made for the gritty world of Albert Square – pub bust-ups, family feuds, and a shady market hustle would suit him down to the ground!

“Other potential next moves include jetting out to the jungle for I’m a Celeb (8/1), joining Strictly (10/1), or even a Marvel comeback (16/1) after previously starring in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but it’s East London where punters think he’s most likely to land next.”

Joe Swash and Stacey Solomon make major change to their Christmas plans weeks after blazing row

Pickle Cottage has been decked out for weeks, with Stacey Solomon preparing the house for her and Joe Swash’s blended family’s Christmas – but there are significant changes to their festive plans this year

Joe Swash has revealed that he and wife Stacey Solomon have made a major change to their Christmas plans, just weeks after they were allegedly seen rowing in the street.

The couple have been preparing for Christmas at their £1.2 million Pickle Cottage with their children, with Loose Women star Stacey, 35, starting her decorating back at the start of November. She shared a video on social media showing a section of their home covered in multi-coloured lights and Christmas decorations swinging from the ceiling.

Between them, Stacey and Joe have six children, sharing their youngest three, Rex, five, Rose, three and one-year-old Belle. Stacey has two boys, Zachary, 16, and Leighton, 12, from a previous relationship, while Joe’s eldest Harry, 16, is from his relationship with Emma Sophocleous.

Their blended family shared last Christmas together, with Stacey going all out. She even has her own BBC show Stacey Solomon’s Crafty Christmas, in which she shows viewers how to make homemade gifts and decorations.

But this year’s festive celebration will be a significantly smaller affair than last year, with the couple toning down the occasion compared to last year. Joe, 42, told Metro : “Last year, we had about 28 people at our house for Christmas dinner. This year is a bit more quiet: just me, Stacey, the kids and three or four other people coming.”

Fans will be hoping their pared back Christmas is nothing to do with their argument, which saw Stacey appearing to be consoled by a film crew in the street after the pair had fell out. The couple ended up leaving separately, according to a source, with Stacey appearing to be hugging a production member.

The onlooker said that Joe left a building alone and “stormed off down the street” while vaping. He was then taken to one side while someone else went to check on him, it was claimed.

They added that 15 minutes after their “tense” exchange, Stacey shouted at Joe, with the pair leaving separately. The Sun shared footage and photos of the incident, with a witness claiming: “Joe came out of a building on his own and stormed off down the street, he looked upset and was sitting on some steps for a while. Stacey came out of the building in tears and she looked really emotional, she was hugging someone.”

They added: “About 15 minutes later Joe was having an animated talk with the man. Eventually Stacey walked towards Joe in the car and shouted something. They ended up leaving separately. It all looked very tense.”

Shobna Gulati is famed for her portrayal of Sunita Alahan in ITV’s Coronation Street, having starred in the soap from 2001 to 2013. The star initially shot to fame with the BBC’s Dinnerladies, had stints in EastEnders and Doctors, and was briefly a panellist on Loose Women.

Fans might also know the versatile actress, 58, from her role as Ray in the hit West End musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, as well as playing Mari Hoff in the 2022 UK Tour of The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, acting alongside her 30-year-old son Akshay.

Despite a bustling career since leaving the cobbles of Coronation Street, Shobna hasn’t shied away from discussing the more challenging aspects of fame. She has opened up about the severe depression she experienced, which required the assistance of two counsellors. Shobna confessed, “Corrie fame made me a recluse. When I handed in my resignation, I knew it was the right thing.”

Moreover, she disclosed: “When you’re in a dark place, there only appears to be one way out. You try not to consider that. I’ve always tried not to reach that low. But when a bout of depression hit me, I could lock myself away for a week. Lived like a hermit.”

However, in a 2020 interview with OK!, she confessed it was a “shame” that her soap character met an untimely demise. She shared: “What a shame they killed Sunita off. The first time I left, the door was open for her to come back, but you get different producers with different ideas. I’m still in touch with some of the women there, and one of my best friends is Kate Ford [Tracy Barlow]. We’re very close.”

Beyond her acting career, Shobna is a devoted mother to her son Akshay, who has also pursued a career in acting, reports Lancs Live. She previously resided with her mother until her passing in 2019, having faced community disapproval for having a child outside of marriage.

Shobna initially tied the knot with her spouse, Anshu Srivastava, in 1990 in a traditional Hindu ceremony, but the union ended after four years when she began a romance with Emmerdale actor Gary Turner. However, the relationship ultimately fizzled out. She then entered into a relationship with Anthony Brown, 17 years old and her junior, but their significant age gap led to difficulties.

Shobna regularly updates her Instagram followers on her acting roles and other pursuits. She has been candid about embracing her natural grey hair as she ages, abandoning hair dye in favour of a more authentic appearance.

The actress has also shared the less glamorous side of her profession online, recently opening up about facing rejection at auditions. Shobna posted a photo of herself with the admission: “The face of rejection from something I didn’t even know I wanted to do in the first place. Honestly, why on earth did I pick this career sometimes I really don’t know anyway just so you it cold out there.”
