Princess Diana signed catalogue from auction of her dresses expected to sell for up to a staggering £5,000

A catalogue from an auction of Princess Diana‘s dresses that was held just two months before her death is expected to sell for up to £5,000 later this month.

The auction took place on June 25, 1997 – just weeks before the royal passed away following a car crash in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris, France.

The limited edition book from the event – where more than 79 designer gowns raised £2.57 million for charity – is expected to fetch between £3,000 to £5,000.

Purple, Moroccan leather-bound guides were created for the sale, which soon became a collector’s item.

The 250 books were all signed and personally numbered by Princess Diana and she also inscribed that the ‘wonderful’ gathering was inspired by her son Prince William, who was 15 at the time.

The number 104 catalogue will be sold alongside an official invitation to the ‘Dresses’ from the Collection of Diana, Princess of Wales’ auction, and other related papers, including the printed sale results.

Elena Jackson, vintage fashion specialist at Ewbank Auctions, described the book as a ‘treasured keepsake’ that is in ‘excellent condition’.

‘This is a wonderful reminder of what a caring person the late Princess of Wales was,’ she explained.

‘And just how skilled she was at creating an event of this type for the benefit of the vulnerable.

‘This treasured keepsake of one of the final acts of charity that she brought to the world has been kept in excellent condition and is very rare indeed’.

Luxury items from designers Louis Vuitton, Yves St Laurent and Hermès will also be going under the hammer on January 26.

Designs by leading names in British fashion, including Ossie Clark, Zandra Rhodes, and Biba will also be up for sale.

It comes after it was revealed last year that Princess Diana’s iconic ‘revenge dress’ is set to go up for auction early this year.

Worn by Diana on the same evening that the then-Prince of Wales admitted adultery on national television in June 1994, the custom-made replica of the black, off-the-shoulder dress by London-based designer Christina Stamboulian is likely to fetch between £,8,000 and £12,000.

Left Bank Pictures, the production company behind the historical drama, is selling the objects at Bonhams in February.

Taking place in London on Wednesday, February 7, the sale will come after the sixth and final series of the popular Netflix show has aired.

The first half of the sixth series of The Crown, covering the period from Diana’s death in 1997 up until the marriage of Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005, was released on Thursday, while the second part will follow on December 14.

Ryan Reynolds and David Beckham had the ultimate #lads #banter #nsfw exchange on Instagram, and fans are absolutely loving it.

The bromance has been around for a while, with the pair sharing social media exchanges since 2018 and starring in a Deadpool 2 trailer later that same year.

And now, some might even say they’re flirting on Instagram in new comments, after David made a tongue in cheek remark on Ryan’s latest post.

The actor was telling his 36.9million followers about the 100 bottles of his Aviation Gin that he had recently signed.

“I signed 100 bottles of @AviationGin for the Liquor Control Board of Ontario,” he put in the caption.

“Weird name for a person but tbh if that were my name, I’d drink that much too. #LCBO.”

David commented on the post, “Wow that’s a sore wrist if ever I saw one 😂.”

Ryan then responded, “I’ve intensely trained my wrist since I was 15. Wait… what are we talking about?”

Can we get a ‘hell yeah’ for the lads lads lads?

This isn’t the first time David Beckham has communicated with a famous friend on Instagram recently. Back in June 2020, he wore a Friends t-shirt out on a walk with wife Victoria, and Matthew Perry posted about it.

The scene was from the episode The One Where No One’s Ready from season three, where Joey puts on all of Chandler’s clothes. Chandler aka Matthew Perry spotted the picture and re-posted it to his own account, alongside the caption, “This guy has really good taste. Whoever that is.”

It didn’t take long for Beckham to reply, commenting on the Perry’s post, “Yes @cruzbeckham got me the shirt but could I be wearing anymore clothes 😂”.

Christmas came early for Victoria Beckham and David Beckham this year!

In an Instagram post on Saturday, Victoria, 49, shared a carousel of photos featuring David, 48, and their children Cruz, 18, Brooklyn, 24, and Harper, 12.

Their son Romeo, 21, who plays soccer for Brentford F.C., was not present in the photo.

But Brooklyn’s wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, smiled in the photo alongside her mother-in-law and young sister-in-law.

In the family photo session, Nicola and Harper wore matching red buffalo plaid pajamas

and white tank tops while Brooklyn and David matched in a similar set of black pajama pants and white shirts.

Victoria and Cruz chose to stand out from the crowd. He wore an all-white outfit while his mom posed in the middle of the picture wearing a set of black and white silk pajamas.

Everyone donned a red and white Santa hat except Cruz, and Brooklyn and David held glasses of white wine.

“Santa came early in Miami!!! 🎄x I love u all so much xxxx @davidbeckham @brooklynpeltzbeckham @cruzbeckham @nicolaannepeltzbeckham #harperseven we miss u @romeobeckham xx,” Victoria captioned the photos, set in front of a Christmas tree decorated with white lights and filled with presents underneath it.

In her Instagram Story on Saturday, Victoria shared a behind-the-scenes photo of David during the casual family photo session. “Keeping it real with the ice bucket,” she captioned a picture of David sitting in front of a table with white wine on it.

Most of the Beckhams are having quite the whirlwind holiday season together. On Thursday, Victoria shared a video of herself dancing on the beach in the Bahamas with her daughter-in-law on her Instagram Story.

“Love you @nicolaannepelrzbeckham,” she wrote on top of the clip, adding, “We hadn’t drunk much at all!” Nicola responded, “Love you!! 😂🩷,” when she shared the video on her own Instagram Story.

Nicola has also been sharing glimpses into the family vacation on her Instagram page. She recently posted pictures of the family having fun on the beach in the Bahamas.

Victoria Beckham tried to convince David Beckham to let her continue her diet despite the doctor’s advice to have a balanced diet (video)

Victoria Beckham has attempted to set the record straight about her diet after her husband David Beckham revealed she’d been eating “the same thing for the last 25 years”.

Earlier this year, the former footballer revealed that Victoria has “rarely deviated” from her favourite dish of grilled fish and steamed vegetables since he’s known her.

“I get quite emotional about food and wine, when I’m eating something great I want everyone to try it,” he told the River Cafe Table 4 podcast.

“Unfortunately I’m married to someone that has eaten the same thing for the last 25 years.

Since I met Victoria, she only eats grilled fish, steamed vegetables, she will very rarely deviate away from there.”

In a new interview with Vogue Australia via The Australian, Victoria jokingly accused her husband of making her sound “boring”,

insisting she was simply very “disciplined” when it comes to her diet.

“I mean, talk about making me sound boring!” she told the fashion magazine.

“No. What he meant is that he’s never met anyone who’s more disciplined with the way that they eat. I eats lots of healthy fat: fish, avocado, nuts, that sort of thing. I do drink alcohol, unless I have a reason not to. I’ll detox from anything for three to six months where I won’t drink.

“I’m quite extreme in anything I do, whether it’s eating or working out or drinking or not drinking.”

Posh also revealed her exercise routine, which involves regular pilates, runs for 30-minutes uphill on a treadmill, and “gruelling one-hour weights sessions”.

In the same interview, Victoria called out British TV and radio presenter Chris Evans for weighing her on live TV in the late nineties just two months after she’d given birth to her son, Brooklyn.

Recalling the moment, Victoria said: “I went on a TV show with Chris Evans many years ago and I’d just had Brooklyn and lost a lot of weight after.

“It happened to my mum after her pregnancies. It doesn’t mean you have an eating disorder. And he made me stand on the scales to be weighed.

Romeo Beckham and Mia Regan exasperated Victoria by repeatedly announcing their breakups, only to suddenly announce their engagement, leaving the Beckham family scrambling to adjust (video)

Romeo Beckham and Mia Regan appear to be back on weeks after they announced that they had split up.

In pictures obtained by OK! Online, the couple were snapped walking hand-in-hand during a shopping trip in west London.

Beckham, who is the second eldest son of retired England footballer David Beckham and ex Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer Victoria Beckham,

announced on Instagram that he and Regan had called it quits less than three weeks ago after a five-year relationship.

Uploading a picture of him and Regan pully funny faces at each other he wrote: “Mooch and I have parted ways after 5 years of love.

We still have a lot of respect for each other, and still hold a strong friendship and always will.”

Regan also shared a selfie together as she joked that they had “friendzoned each other” after five years.

She penned: “This is Ro, we have grown up with each other since we were 16!! Love takes different forms & paths as you mature. We aren’t together romantically but we do share lots & lots of love for one another… after 5 years we friendzoned each other hehe.”

The Brentford FC footballer and model first began dating in 2019 and share matching tattoos.

News that they had split came as a surprise as they had not long moved in together after engagement rumours surfaced last year. A source told the Mirror at the time: “Romeo and Mia had a fallout… they aren’t together at the moment.

“Mia has apparently moved out of the place they shared and is staying with her parents.

“They’ve split up in the past and got back together again, but this time it feels more serious – Mia moving out obviously points to it being more than just a tiff.”

Princess Diana WOULD still have done a bombshell interview even if she hadn’t been duped by disgraced BBC man Martin Bashir – but it might not have been so incendiary, royal writer Tina Brown claims

Princess Diana would still have done a bombshell interview even if she had not been duped by BBC journalist Martin Bashir, royal writer Tina Brown has claimed.

The late royal’s TV interview with Bashir was watched by 23million people in 1995 and caused a worldwide media frenzy.

She told Bashir ‘there were three people in this marriage’ – a reference to the then Prince Charles‘s affair with Camilla Parker Bowles, now Queen Consort.

By then, Diana and Charles had been separated for three years and would go on to divorce in 1996.

It later emerged that, to secure access to the princess, Bashir showed her brother, Earl Spencer, false bank statements which suggested his former head of security had been receiving money from tabloids and the security services to spy on his sister.

Once he had gained access, Bashir told Diana a string of lies, convincing her that Prince Charles was having an affair with then royal nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke and that she became pregnant and had an abortion as a result.

However, Ms Brown, 70, who has published a series of books on Diana and the Royal Family, believes the princess would still have spoken to the press even if she had not been misled by Bashir.

The late royal’s TV interview with Bashir was watched by 23million people in 1995 and caused a worldwide media frenzy

She told the Scandal Mongers podcast: ‘I’m of the opinion that Diana still said in that interview, everything that she wanted to say, and I’m actually also of the opinion, she would have given an interview to somebody else, she was sort of looking to unload all that.

‘But perhaps it wouldn’t have been quite such a sort of bridge-burning voltage that it was, if she hadn’t been under the kind of illusion that there were all of these people spying on her.’

Bashir also commissioned fake bank statements that purported to show how payments were made into the account of Diana’s private secretary, Patrick Jephson, from intelligence services monitoring Diana’s movements.

Mr Jephson quit in January 1996 after what he later called a ‘deeply uncomfortable’ final meeting with Diana.

In 2022, the BBC paid him substantial damages and apologised ‘unreservedly’.

Speaking of the incident involving Ms Legge-Bourke, whom she approached at a party and said, ‘sorry about the baby’ in the false belief she had been pregnant with Charles’s child, Ms Brown added: ‘That all sounded like she had gone so, you know, crazy, essentially.

‘But of course, now we understand she’d been told Tiggy Legge-Bourke had aborted a child by Charles and that she had been told Patrick Jephson was her chief spy.’

A bombshell report found that Bashir lied to obtain his interview with Diana.

The independent inquiry found the shamed journalist used ‘deceitful’ methods later covered up by a ‘woefully ineffective’ internal investigation by Tony Hall, who later became BBC director-general.

Ms Brown’s most recent book, The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor, the Truth and the Turmoil, was published in 2022.

In 2007, she released biographical work The Diana Chronicles.

Prince Harry jokingly accuses John Travolta of ‘dining out’ on star’s dance with Princess Diana and calls him ‘Captain John’ as he receives ‘Living Legend’ award at glitzy Beverley Hills bash

Prince Harry jokingly accused John Travolta of ‘dining out’ on the story of his dance with Princess Diana as he stepped out in Los Angeles to be honoured as a ‘Living Legend of Aviation’.

The Duke of Sussex was presented with the prestigious award by Travolta who famously danced with his late mother at a White House dinner for President Ronald Reagan in 1985.

Prince Harry embraced the Hollywood star and private pilot and referred to him as ‘Captain John’ before giving an acceptance speech at last night’s Beverly Hills bash.

Addressing the audience at the Beverly Hills Hilton, Harry inspected his medal and said: ‘This is nice. Thanks very much, Captain John.

‘I was one-year-old when you danced with my mum. As you’ve told everybody here and continue to dine out on that probably every single night.

‘But look at us now! It’s great. So if we’re not going to dance together, we’ll fly together.’

The Telegraph reports that as the audience laughed, the duke appeared to hold his hand up to jokingly dismiss Travolta, adding: ‘Thank you, that’s it, we’re done.’

Travolta, himself a pilot, was reportedly the driving force behind Harry receiving the award after feeling an affinity for the prince after dancing with Diana – though the prince’s nomination angered some military pilots who felt it was unearned.

He was in high spirits on Friday as he joined Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe, a 46-year-old minor German royal and cousin of outgoing Queen of Denmark, Margrethe II, and others at the Beverly Hills Hilton – and did not mention his sister in law Kate or dad Charles’ medical dramas.

Harry was not accompanied by wife Meghan, who had been expected to attend; she was not present as one of their children became unwell, according to a report from the PA news agency.

The Duke of Sussex completed two tours of Afghanistan as a forward air controller and an Apache helicopter pilot, having flown countless training missions in the UK, US and Australia.

He served for 10 years in the military, rising to the rank of Captain, and later founded the Invictus Games – a sporting event for wounded military personnel and veterans.

On stage, Travolta asked him of his time flying for the Army: ‘What can you remember about your first flight?’

    Harry quipped back: ‘It’s classified.’

Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe, who grabbed a photo with Harry at the awards, later called the moment between Harry and Travolta on-stage ‘very touching and sweet’.

‘John Travolta presented the award and he referred to the dance with his mother Princess Diana, (when) Prince Harry was one year old so he’s like, ‘Now I see you again under a new circumstance, on a new stage’,’ he said.

‘That was very touching and very sweet because we all remember how gorgeous the dance was of John Travolta and Princess Diana, and now Princess Diana’s son is getting an award from John Travolta. It was the cutest, most touching moment.’

In his speech, Harry went on to thank the Living Legends of Aviation awards for the ‘incredible honour’, adding that he is ‘proud to be recognised among such a dynamic and inspiring group of individuals’.

Harry takes his place alongside other aviation and aerospace ‘legends’ including Buzz Aldrin, Jeff BezosTom Cruise, Neil Armstrong, Harrison FordMorgan Freeman and Elon Musk.

He continued: ‘For me, flying has been a transcendent experience. A close encounter with magic, an invitation to both protect freedom… and to feel free, and, funny enough, an opportunity to ground oneself, without actually being grounded.

‘I find my flight training — which was over the course of three years— to be one of life’s greatest lessons. It triggered a vast array of feelings.’

He did not allude to the medical dramas for his family on the other side of the Atlantic; Kate Middleton is part-way through a two-week stay in hospital after undergoing surgery, while King Charles is being treated for an enlarged prostate.

Kate underwent ‘planned abdominal surgery’ earlier this week that was ‘successful’, Kensington Palace said on Wednesday, adding that she will remain in the London Clinic for up to two weeks.

‘Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter,’ the Palace said.

Details of the surgery have not been made public; sources told the Daily Mail that her condition is ‘non cancerous’. Kate is not expected to resume her public duties until sometime after Easter.

Kensington Palace added: ‘The Princess Of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements.

‘She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.’

Prince William was pictured leaving the London Clinic on Thursday, having taken some time away from royal duties to be with his wife and look after their children in the coming weeks.

An hour and a half after Kensington Palace’s announcement, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles III would also be undergoing treatment in hospital next week for his enlarged prostate.

The King was pictured returning to Sandringham on Friday with Queen Camilla to rest ahead of the planned surgery, flying more than 300 miles on an RAF jet from Aberdeen Airport to RAF Marham.

Harry’s nomination for the aviation award angered some top former British military officials.

Lord West, former head of the Royal Navy, said: ‘He is not a living legend of aviation. To suggest he is is pathetic. It makes the whole thing seem a bit of a nonsense if they’re willing to pick someone like Prince Harry.

‘He didn’t carry off any great exciting feat of amazing flying skill while flying for the Army. They’re just trying to get publicity. They know it will cause a stir.’

Retired officer Colonel Richard Kemp said that Harry was ‘a brave guy’ and his role in Afghanistan was ‘undoubtedly very dangerous’.

But he said that there are ‘helicopter pilots who have done much more extraordinary things in Iraq and Afghanistan, risking their lives to rescue their fellow soldiers.’

The Living Legends of Aviation website also praised the duke for his work with charities and organizations including Travalyst, Sentebale, African Parks and WellChild.

A statement on its website said, ‘Prince Harry is a humanitarian, military veteran, mental wellness advocate and environmentalist.

‘He has dedicated his life to advancing causes that he is passionate about and that bring about permanent change for people and places.’

Harry was inducted alongside US navy pilot Fred George and former world speed record holder Steve Hinton, as well as Lauren Sanchez – a helicopter pilot who is engaged to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

She is set to receive the Elling Halvorson Vertical Flight Hall of Fame Award for her skills as a helicopter pilot and aviation businesswoman, having founded aerial filming company Black Ops Aviation in 2016.

The duke’s appearance comes as his father, the King, prepared to undergo treatment for an enlarged prostate next week, while his sister-in-law the Princess of Wales recovers from abdominal surgery in the London Clinic.

Kate is not expected to resume public duties until well into the spring.

Aside from the late Queen herself, her ladies-in-waiting and Michael Fagan, the notorious intruder who climbed up a drainpipe and broke into Buckingham Palace in 1982, very few can claim to have set foot in Her Majesty’s bedroom.

Even fewer will have examined the photographs on her bedside table, leafed through the correspondence on her desk or — surely a treasonable offence — dared to sit on the royal bed.

It is, I can report, squishier than you might imagine, and closer to the ground than the average bed, to account for Elizabeth II’s petite 5 ft 3 in stature.

The bedspread, which matches the armchairs, is chintzy pink, every surface is adorned with porcelain trinkets – and there are no fewer than seven well-used dog beds around the room.

Fear not, I haven’t shimmied up any drainpipes to get here: the royal quarters are part of a set, from the Netflix series The Crown, on display at London auction house Bonhams ahead of a landmark sell-off of souvenirs, costumes and props from the show.

The drama’s sixth and final series — taking the action up to 2005 — was released last month. The Mail has gained exclusive access to more than 500 pieces of memorabilia being sold off by production company Left Bank Pictures in a two-part auction (live and online) culminating on February 7.

The lots, arranged in a free public exhibition, range from small (a cocktail stirrer used by the character of the Queen Mother) to large (a green Jaguar driven by the Princess Diana character) to very, very large indeed (a full-size replica of the gold State Coach).

It’s thrilling and surreal to find myself perching regally on the 700-year-old Coronation chair, practising my wave from the royal coach and rifling through Diana’s dressing table. I’m even allowed to try on one of the Queen’s outfits — an elegant blue coat and hat worn by actress Imelda Staunton — and slide Kate Middleton’s sapphire engagement sparkler on to my finger.

‘It’s the closest anyone can come to owning the real thing,’ says Charlie Thomas of Bonhams.

Though these may be replicas — only the most eagle-eyed observers will be able to tell them apart.

Every tiny detail — from the lace on Princess Margaret’s wedding dress to the pattern on Prince William’s skis — is an exact match of the original, and there is even genuine rust (purchased by the bagful by the set designers) painted on the underside of the carriage.

The auctioneers are expecting to raise millions from the sale.

So if you’ve got some spare pennies in the bank and want to snap up a piece of (replica) royal history, what’s up for grabs?

THE QUEEN: CORGIS AND A CARRIAGE BUT NO CROWN

Comprising a flowing linen gown, gold lamé tunic and crimson velvet cape, the robes of state — worn by Claire Foy as The Queen during her Coronation in series one — are one of the most expensive lots in the auction, estimated to sell for £20,000 to £30,000.

Meg Randell, Bonhams’ head of fashion, hopes that buyers will bid on some of Her Majesty’s outfits not simply for posterity but to wear them — in which case a sparkling teal ballgown, from the second season, might be a better choice (£3,000-£5,000).

‘Some of these items really deserve a second life,’ says Meg. ‘They’re special and completely unique. For example, there’s a headscarf that has a beautiful abstract painting of the Gardens of Versailles on it, and that was a hand-drawn pattern [part of the Queen’s stalking outfit, estimated between £700 and £1,000] — but blink and you’d miss it on screen.’

Sadly, there are no crowns in the auction, and surprisingly few royal jewels. ‘These were all rented for filming,’ says Meg.

There are, however, rails upon rails of outfits, shoes and accessories worn by the three actresses playing the Queen — Foy, Olivia Colman and Staunton — including a safari suit from the Kenya episode (£1,000-£1,500), a cream umbrella (£200-£300) and a full-length gold banquet gown complete with blue Order of the Garter sash (£3,000-£5,000).

Buyers can purchase the ‘audience room bell’, rung by the Queen to usher in waiting prime ministers (£200-£300), Her Majesty’s mahogany writing desk, complete with photographs, trinkets and lamp (£3,000-£5,000), and a Filofax used by her dresser, Angela Kelly, played by Lizzie Hopley (£500-£800).

Not forgetting her bed, a Louis XVI French kingwood design with a reserve of £5,000 to £8,000. And the Queen’s love of corgis is represented with seven wicker dog beds (sold as one lot, £1,000 to £1,500), and there’s a pair of charming porcelain dog figures (£200-£300).

Then, of course, there’s the State Coach, the grandest item on sale, an impressive 3.1 metres tall and 5.6 metres long, which required a feat of engineering just to get it into the auction house.

Made from wood, fibreglass, clay and 3D printing, the gold-painted carriage — constructed in 2019 — is lined with red velvet and is estimated at £30,000 to £50,000.

It works, too: in theory, you could harness six horses to the front and ride away (though it is restricted to walking pace, and unlikely to comply with traffic regulations for road use).

DIANA: A RACING CAR AND RACIER FASHIONS

As the most fashion-forward of the royals, it’s no surprise that most of the high-ticket items belong to Diana, Princess of Wales, played in turn by Emma Corrin and Elizabeth Debicki.

Most coveted of all is her ‘revenge’ dress, listed for £8,000 to £12,000, which Diana famously wore to an event at the Serpentine Gallery in 1994, on the same day that Charles’s affair with Camilla became public.

The replica, made from pleated black silk and chiffon, is so tiny in its proportions, mirroring Diana’s minute frame, that Meg says they ‘struggled to find a mannequin small enough to display it. I really hope this will be bought by someone, maybe a celebrity, who wants to wear it,’ she adds. ‘It would be wonderful if it could be worn as another ‘act of revenge’. I could see it appearing on a red carpet, or somewhere like the Met Gala.’

There are several other striking outfits: her powder-blue engagement suit (£1,500-£2,000); a grey ‘Harvard’ sweatshirt and cycling shorts (£500-£700); and even the protective garb she wore while walking through a minefield in Angola (£2,000-£3,000).

Swimsuits feature highly (including a leopard-print one, £800-£1,200), while sporty types might want to snap up the white leather roller skates and outfit she wears in season four (£800-£1,200).

Most intriguing of all, and strangely intimate to behold, is her dressing table, an Edwardian-style mahogany and mother-of-pearl dresser (£2,000-£3,000), which comes with an array of eerily accurate paraphernalia: her favourite lily of the valley perfume, Yves Saint Laurent foundation and a gold Cartier watch.

Seasoned travellers will have their eye on her ten-piece powder-blue luggage set, monogrammed with ‘HRH Princess of Wales’ — sure to raise an eyebrow at Heathrow (£2,000-£3,000).

There’s also a baby grand piano from her Kensington apartments (£800-£1,200), while the 1987 Jaguar XJ-SC Cabriolet from season five is ready to drive away today, having recently passed its MoT (£15,000-£20,000).

KING CHARLES: TRINKETS AND A VERY POSH PEN

Viewers will remember watching a young Charles whizzing round the Palace in a ride-on green racing car — yours for £80 to £120, if you want a memento of the monarch as a child.

Bidders can also buy the pocket watch carried by Josh O’Connor in season three (£400-£600), the signet ring worn by Dominic West in season five (£700- £900), or one of Charles’s trusty walking canes, hewn from Scottish horn and hazel, for £200 to £300.

Bigger items include his gilt-edged mahogany writing desk, seen in his study at Highgrove throughout season five, which comes with a brass-inlaid armchair, a Mulberry crocodile-effect blotter, paperweights and letter openers (£800-£1,200).

Also on offer is a Montblanc fountain pen used by Charles in the show (£300-£500); this is his favourite make, while the Queen preferred Parker.

Charles is not known for his fondness for fashion — but there are a handful of outfits up for auction: his engagement suit (£1,000-£1,500), ermine-hooded investiture robes (£5,000-£7,000) and a polo outfit with riding boots (£1,000-£5,000).

KATE AND WILLS: SKIS AND THAT SEE-THROUGH DRESS

Kate (played by newcomer Meg Bellamy) and William (Ed McVey) don’t appear until season six of The Crown — and there’s a crucial part of their royal romance up for grabs: the see-through dress from the charity fashion show at St Andrews University in March 2002.

William reportedly paid £200 for a front-row seat at the event, at which Kate strutted down the runway wearing nothing but black underwear and a custom-made mesh dress.

It was later auctioned for £78,000; this replica is estimated between £2,000 and £3,000.

There are only two other Kate-related lots in the auction: a ‘casual country look’, comprising Penelope Chilvers boots and a tweed skirt (£600-£800); and the ring first worn by Diana and later given to her by William on their engagement in 2010.

While the real sparkler, an 18-carat white gold band set with a 12-carat oval sapphire and 14 diamonds cost £47,000, this is estimated between £2,000 and £3,000 — though none of the stones are real.

Prince William’s Eton uniform, complete with grey trousers from M&S, is also on sale (£500-£800), as is a set of vintage skis, used by Charles and a young William and Harry in season six (£200-£300).

MARGARET: KAFTANS AND A SMOKING BOX

‘Princess Margaret’s outfits are so evocative of who she was as a character,’ says Meg. ‘They’re colourful, eye-catching and usually rather loud.’

Among the top-priced items are a floor-length, fuchsia-pink taffeta ballgown (£1,000-£1,500) and a flowing gold kaftan worn by Helena Bonham Carter in series three (£600-£800).

There are several more kaftans and nightdresses, as well as a floor-length white-and-pink printed dress (£1,500-£2,000).

Fans can also adorn their house with Margaret paraphernalia: a huge 19th-century giltwood mirror (£1,000-£1,500), a selection of props (including a smoking box, mother-of-pearl lighter and cut-glass hip flask, £200-£300), and a set of silver-mounted hairbrushes (£200-£300).

PRINCE PHILIP’S BARBECUES AND THATCHER’S SUIT

Half-full bottles of Tanqueray gin and Hennessy cognac form part of the lowest-priced item in the auction (£60-£80): a bar set, complete with silver tray and cocktail ‘swizzle stick’, used by the Queen Mother, played by Victoria Hamilton.

A fold-up steel barbecue, based on an original 1950s design by Prince Philip — who wanted it to fit in the back of his car — is on offer for £400 to £600, or you can buy a vintage croquet set (£200-£300).

Fashion highlights include the ivory ensemble worn by Camilla, Queen Consort (played by Olivia Williams) on her wedding day in 2005, estimated between £1,000 and £1,500, and several custom-made satin gowns worn by Erin Doherty as Princess Anne in series three.

And it’s not all royals: bidders can also buy the blue skirt suit and black Launer handbag combo belonging to Margaret Thatcher, played by Gillian Anderson, for £1,500 to £2,000.

KIT OUT YOUR HOME WITH A THRONE AND PALACE GATES

Wrought-iron replicas of the Buckingham Palace gates could be yours for £6,000 to £8,000 — if you can spare five metres to install them.

You could even sit on your very own faux throne: the St Edward’s Chair, used in the Coronation, has been faithfully recreated in fibreglass (expected to fetch £10,000-£20,000).

Or you could add royal opulence to the dining room with a set of four cut-glass chandeliers (£5,000-£7,000).

Or why not invest in a 12-metre-long miniature enactment of the Queen’s funeral procession, from season six, comprising hundreds of toy soldiers, horses and other figurines — expected to sell for £8,000 to £12,000.

Tempted? As Meg Randell puts it, ‘You’d need a very large house just to get it through the front door.’

Paul Burrell’s mock Tudor mansion is haunted by the ghost of Princess Diana, the former royal butler says – as he claims late Queen believed in ghosts too

Princess Diana‘s former butler has revealed that the late royal haunts his mock Tudor mansion in Cheshire and that the late Queen also believed in the supernatural.

Paul Burrell started working in Charles and Diana’s royal household in 1987 and was the Princess’s personal butler until her death in 1997.

The 65-year-old was having his home inspected by a group of ghost hunters on an episode of Celebrity Help! My House is Haunted on Discovery Plus when he made the claims.

Mr Burrell and his husband, litigation lawyer Graham Cooper, 64, called in the paranormal experts after being kept up at night by shadowy figures, wafts of cigarette smoke and unexplained bumps.

But the team hardly put the couple’s mind at ease when their special EVP recorder, which they claim allows them to ‘hear beyond the human ear for any nearby spirit contact’, received some disturbing messages.

The machine reported back with the words ‘sorry’ and ‘France’ and Mr Burrell believes that the latter might be a reference to the Princess’s death in a car crash while being driven through the Pont de L’Alma tunnel in Paris.

The Mirror reports that the former royal butler said: ‘I don’t understand why it would say “France” other than the fact that the Princess died in France and the fact I went to France to bring her home.

‘I had been introduced to this world before by the Princess – she was heavily involved in spirituality.’

Diana’s ex-butler has previously described himself as the late Princess’s ‘best friend’ and has alleged she referred to him as ‘the only man she ever trusted’.

And Mr Burrell is convinced that Diana is still reaching out to him more than 26 years after her death.

‘When you have loved someone in life – and I did love her – and they pass very quickly, a little piece of them remains behind and you carry them with you for the rest of your days,’ he said.

Mr Burrell added that he dreams about Diana regularly, usually at around 3am, but that he is not obsessed with her as he only has one photo of the two together although he has hundreds of pictures of the Princess.

The former royal servant also said that Queen Elizabeth II believed in ghosts and would only stay in Allt-na-giubhsaich, the cottage in Balmoral, if her corgis were with her as they would sense a supernatural presence before she could.

This comes after Mr Burrell applauded King Charles for being so open about his prostate condition on Monday.

Mr Burrell got the ‘all clear’ from doctors last year after a long battle with prostate cancer.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, he said:

‘His issues and his condition is very different to mine but similar in other ways, it will be uncomfortable for him but his message is clear, he wants people to know about it and he wants people to come forward.

‘This is also what I am saying but he has a bigger platform than me, people are following him and going to the GP, people are going in droves.’
