Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told the packed audience at News UK that Diana opened up when she invited her for tea at Kensington Palace.

The former Princess of Wales — who died in 1997, leaving behind sons Harry and William — discussed her failing marriage to the then Prince Charles and his relationship with Camilla.

Diana later spoke on the record in the discredited Panorama interview with Martin Bashir who, it emerged, faked documents to persuade her to talk.

Jennie said: “She was complicated and confusing but I liked her a lot. She invited me to the Palace a couple of times for talks.

“We had long, long, long chats and she told me everything practically, almost everything in Panorama, before Panorama.

“She said, ‘There were three of us in this marriage’, and whether she had affairs and her view on Camilla. She told me she thought that Camilla was loyal and discreet and deserved some form of recognition.”

Host Arthur Edwards, the Sun’s royal photographer, replied: “I’ve never heard that before Jennie. That’s really terrific.”

Jennie, who covered the Royal Family for 14 years, never reported this conversation.

She told the audience: “Diana said as I was leaving, every time, ‘Jennie this is just between you and me’, so what can you do?”

The panel also delved into Harry and Meghan’s life in California.

Harry has spent the past few weeks without his wife working in New York, London and Africa.

The couple’s business ventures are now split and they are spending less time together.

Arthur said: “They seem to be doing things separately now — she’s got her programmes, he’s got his, and he comes into Britain now without any fuss.

“Seeing him this week with WellChild and going to Lesotho, made me wish he was back in the Royal Family as he had a lot to contribute.

“It was awful what he did, certainly to write about his family in a nasty way and the TV interview with Oprah Winfrey.

“But if he wanted to come back, I’d be happy about that.”

Jennie said: “But he doesn’t want to come back.”

Royal Exclusive Live! will be aired every day during King Charles and Queen Camilla’s tour of Australia — and will be hosted by Sun Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson and Arthur.

The first episode can be seen on the Sun’s YouTube channel.

Victoria and David Beckham get into the festive spirit as they attempt to fill their family home with Christmas decorations – with hilarious results

Victoria Beckham has shared a hilarious video of husband David placing a toy elf inside a coffee cup as the couple prepared for Christmas on Monday.

The fashion designer, 50, captured former Manchester United and England ace David, 49, as he attempted to fill their home with festive decorations.

‘Where is the elf going?’ she is heard asking her husband as he proceeded to give the toy an unlikely home inside a coffee mug, next to their Nespresso coffee machine.

Captioning the Instagram post, Victoria wrote: ‘I promise… no alcohol.’

It comes after Geri Horner reportedly ‘derailed a lucrative Spice Girls deal’ – that would have netted all five members £1million each.

According to The Sun, Geri, Mel B, Mel C, Victoria and Emma Bunton were all approached about a drama series that came with a seven-figure payday.

Insiders have claimed talks were going well until Geri decided to back out of her involvement in the project.

A source said: ‘It would have seen five actresses taking on the roles of Posh, Ginger, Scary, Sporty and Baby.

‘The venture would have landed them all pay deals of around £1million for essentially not lifting a finger.

‘But as the negotiations ramped up, the others were told Geri had objected. The plans have basically been thrown out.’

The insider added that, without the agreement of Geri, it will be difficult to make the project happen.

MailOnline has contacted representatives for all five Spice Girls for comment.

It comes after Geri was also said to have pulled the plug on plans for a new Spice Girls reunion tour – after her feud with Mel B turned increasingly ugly.

The group had been in discussions about another run of dates and had even made contact with Victoria Beckham about a possible cameo appearance – with the band excited about replicating the success of their last shows.

But insiders say a bitter rift between the pair – who were once so close they allegedly engaged in a fleeting romance – has now driven a wedge between the group and Geri has now walked away entirely.

A source told MailOnline: ‘Geri has had enough to deal with after all the drama with her husband’s relationship with his assistant – it has been a tough enough time – and she’s just lost patience with Mel and her little digs and jibes.

‘She’s walked away and without Geri it’s really not going to happen – in the past she’s been a driving force in the group, but she doesn’t want to deal with Mel at all at the moment let alone share a stage with her.’

Mel made jibes at her former friend by wishing her a ‘Happy 75th Birthday’ online alongside a series of unflattering photographs from their heyday, seemingly a reference to her previous jibes that Geri had lied about her age in the past.

Insiders say there have been many more digs and jibes behind the scenes which have infuriated Geri – who has had a tough six months amid allegations of her Formula One chief husband Christian Horner‘s inappropriate behaviour with a female assistant.

The source added: ‘They’ve always had a tricky relationship but this has got very messy now and nobody has been able to smooth things over between them – so it’s all off again.’

Mel B’s representative declined to comment.

It’s the latest in a series of rows after their ‘frosty’ reunion at Victoria’s 50th birthday bash in April.

The star-studded soiree saw all five of the Spice Girls come together to party but it was claimed Mel and Geri’s greeting was tense.

Despite having posed for a smiley snap with Victoria, Mel C and Emma Bunton, The Sun claimed Mel and Geri were feeling tense.

The Mail previously revealed that the former girlband plans to mark their 30th anniversary with a documentary had fallen apart.

After the Netflix Beckham documentary, made by David’s TV company, was such a success last year, the Spice Girls started to talk to the streamer about possibly making a similar all-access show about the group and their phenomenal success.

It was to feature lengthy interviews with all of the ‘girls’ and their families, talking about their experiences of fame and of life since their pop heyday.

The idea was to tie the documentary to the 30th anniversary of the group being founded in 1994.

However, although Victoria, Mel B, Mel C and Emma were all keen on the doc, after a number of meetings Geri was still against the idea and they were not able to talk her round.

This disagreement — certainly not the first in the group — created a little bit of frost between Ginger and the other girls, reported Alison Boshoff.

Some believe Geri wasn’t keen on the scrutiny due to the looming scandal over her husband Christian Horner, whose role at F1 team Red Bull appeared to be in peril after an employee alleged he had harassed her.

Christian was cleared in March after an inquiry, with the complainant launching an appeal that was subsequently thrown out in August, exonerating the Red Bull boss for a second time.

A statement from Red Bull confirmed: ‘The complainant exercised the right to appeal, and the appeal was carried by another independent KC. All stages of the appeal process have now been concluded , with the final outcome that the appeal is not upheld.

‘The KC’s conclusions have been accepted and adopted by Red Bull. The internal process has concluded.’

A source said: ‘It might have been awkward for Geri to get out there and talk about Girl Power in these circumstances surrounding Christian but in truth even before it all came out she wasn’t keen on revisiting those days. She just didn’t want to go over all the fun, wild times that they had.’

Scroll back up to restore default view.

Princess Diana legacy is being honored in Wales, where she helped create a lasting impact for children with life-limiting conditions.

The Tŷ Hafan children’s hospice, located near Cardiff, has unveiled a newly renovated area to offer comfort to families, thanks to a generous donation of around $122,000 from Diana’s former aide, Patrick Jephson.

Jephson selected Tŷ Hafan—meaning “Haven House” in Welsh—to receive the funds after he won a damages payout from the BBC in 2022. This followed the fallout from the controversial 1995 Panorama interview with Diana, which was obtained through “deceitful methods” by journalist Martin Bashir. The BBC later apologized to Jephson for the “serious harm” caused.

The donation was used to refurbish The Sanctuary, a non-denominational space for reflection and contemplation for families and caregivers at the hospice. On Oct. 16, the newly renovated space was officially unveiled to supporters.

Jephson, who served in a role akin to chief of staff for Princess Diana for eight years until 1996 and now resides in Washington, D.C., couldn’t attend the event, explaining he’s “been in the repair shop,” as he puts it. However, he tells PEOPLE, “I don’t feel an ocean away. One of many wonderful things about the work of Tŷ Hafan is that it reminds us every day that neither distance nor time can put any limit on love.”

The work of Tŷ Hafan, “like the work she did to draw the world’s attention to children with life-shortening conditions and their families, is surely the definition of love in action.”

Jephson, represented at the hospice on Oct. 16 by his agent Sue Ayton — who played a pivotal role in securing the settlement from the BBC—serves as a living connection to Diana’s legacy. His donation represents a positive resolution to a deeply stressful chapter in the former royal aide’s life.

He and the staff have much to be proud of. At the entrance of The Sanctuary, a plaque honors Diana, positioned beneath an image of her meeting Suzanne Goodall, the founder who first approached the princess for her support.

Inside the space, the hospice has created a haven of peace. Candles are lit and curved windows create a seamless connection to the recently rejuvenated gardens that envelop the building.

Heather Roberts, the senior play practitioner, played guitar as she had the evening before for families honoring their children. “Families come back for years and years. So many families feel so nurtured here,” she says. “Many say they feel closer to their child here.”

Tracy Jones, director of family wellbeing services, tells PEOPLE, “We wanted to create something that felt calm and tranquil and also safe. History and legacy is important to us. When we talk about our founder, Suzanne Goodall, you cannot talk about her without talking about Princess Diana. Without Princess Diana, we would not have the hospice. With the fundraising, she kick-started the hospice.”

The new space not only as a place for families to remember their loved ones but also as a vital resource for staff. “A member of staff who might have a challenging day on the care wing can use the space in the same way we encourage families to do.” Chief Executive Irfon Rees says.

“Our care staff develop bonds with these children and their families both in life and death — as long as they need us,” Rees says. “And so many staff will find different ways to deal with loss themselves and The Sanctuary is absolutely part of that offer for them.”

They hold “reflective sessions” following a child’s death, allowing colleagues to share memories and celebrate the child’s life. “It allows a beautiful space for that,” Rees adds.

The connection between Diana and Tŷ Hafan began in 1995 when the founder approached her about becoming the hospice’s patron. “It hadn’t even broken ground, but she said yes,” Jephson recalls. The first major fundraiser was a concert featuring opera legend Luciano Pavarotti in nearby Cardiff, following Diana’s request. Tragically, she never saw it come to fruition, as she died away in 1997. The hospice eventually opened its doors 25 years ago in 1999.

This year, the hospice has already provided end-of-life care for 40 children. As one of only two children’s centers of its kind in Wales, it supports approximately 300 children with life-shortening conditions and around 3,000 family members annually. Maintaining its vital services for children and young people with life-limiting conditions—and their families—costs $7.8 million each year. This funding ensures the hospice can assist families both at its facility in Sully and in homes and community settings across Wales.

David Beckham is doubling down on a now-infamous exchange with his wife Victoria Beckham, who alleged in their documentary that she had “working-class roots.”

In an Instagram post on Sunday, David, 48, shared a festive photo at a fancy table with his wife, 49, and her parents, all dressed up.

“Just a nice casual New Year’s Eve lunch at The Ritz  @victoriabeckham. Very working class,” he teased, jokingly noting that his in-laws left in their “Rolls Royce.”

David, who wore a suit in the photo, was referencing the now-viral clip from Netflix’s four-part documentary Beckham, which was released on Oct. 4.

The video showed David playfully interrupting the Spice Girls alum during a sit-down discussion for the doc. Victoria had explained that she and David come from families that were “very working class,” and as she finished her thought, her husband popped his head into the room during her interview and said, “Be honest.”

“I am being honest,” Victoria replied with a hint of defensiveness.

David, however, didn’t seem convinced, and then asked his wife, “What car did your dad drive you to school in?”

After nipping back and forth about the specifics of the vehicle, he kept repeating the question. Victoria eventually folded. “OK, in the ’80s, my dad had a Rolls Royce.”

“Thank you,” David responded with a satisfied grin, closing the door and retreating back to the room he was in.

David recently teased his “dramatic” wife for getting tired at the gym, sharing a humorous photo of her “napping” on the floor.

“Not that my wife’s dramatic or anything but this is what happened this morning,” he wrote on a picture of Victoria stretched on her back next to a treadmill. The athlete also added an eye roll emoji and a GIF with the rotating sentence, “I wanna nap.”

Over the years, several talented women have stepped into Princess Diana’s shoes to tell her story.

Diana’s likeness has been portrayed on screens and stages before and after her tragic death in 1997. Her love story and fallout with King Charles was dramatized by actresses like Catherine Oxenberg and Caroline Bliss in the ’80s. Decades later, big names like Naomi Watts and Kristen Stewart starred in big-screen biopics and dramas that explored Diana’s life in the spotlight.

Most recently, Elizabeth Debicki plays the beloved figure in seasons 5 and 6 of The Crown, a role she inherited from Emma Corrin a season earlier. As the hit series airs its final installment, see all of the stars who have taken on the role of Princess Diana.

Debicki made her debut as the late princess on season 5 of The Crown, which followed the dissolution of Diana’s marriage to then-Prince Charles. In the sixth and final season of the series, Debicki — whose credits include roles in The Night Manager and Christopher Nolan’s Tenet — portrays Diana in the final years of her life, leading up to her tragic death in 1997.

Speaking to PEOPLE at The Crown‘s season 6 premiere, Debicki shared that she “learned a lot” playing the royal.

“I don’t think you come anywhere near sort of learning as much as I learned about this character and not feel that the only thing worth doing in life is putting love into the world,” Debicki said at the event in Los Angeles.

Having played Joan Jett in The Runaways and Jean Seberg in Seberg, the actress is no stranger to stepping into the shoes of real-life icons.

Pablo Larraín’s biopic takes place over three days in December 1991 as Princess Diana spends Christmas at Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham estate and realizes she needs to end her marriage to Prince Charles. U.K. culture professor Pauline Maclaran tells PEOPLE that the Twilight star’s turn is “very likely to be a favorable portrayal for a younger audience.”

Corrin channeled some of the Princess of Wales’s most iconic looks in season 4 of Netflix’s hit palace intrigue drama. According to Maclaran, “The Crown really favors Diana. It’s turning her into the heroine by focusing on her virtuous side.” (The role has likewise proven favorable for Corrin, whose interpretation garnered a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award in 2021.)

The London-born actress began previews on Broadway in March 2020 before global lockdowns sent Broadway into an indefinite hiatus. But the show announced its return in August 2021, teasing that it would tell “The story you only thought you knew.”

Set in 1981, the musical follows de Waal’s Diana as she prepares to marry into the royal family, then explores the aftermath of that marriage, including Diana’s complicated relationship with the press and Prince Charles’s highly publicized affair with Camilla Parker-Bowles (later titled the Duchess of Cornwall through her marriage to the Prince of Wales).

The Australian actress’s turn as the beloved royal was less than adored. In fact, Maclaran tells PEOPLE, “It was widely panned.”

Watts had put in the work — training with a dialogue coach for six weeks, watching interviews repeatedly and physically transforming with the help of wigs and prosthetics — and she even claimed Diana had visited her in a dream to give her permission, but “her portrayal was seen as fairly wooden,” says Maclaran.

David Beckham has let slip that his other half Victoria has been sticking to the same meal for a whopping 25 years. The former Manchester United star divulged that Posh Spice is not one for mixing up her menu, opting for a no-frills diet of grilled fish and steamed veggies without fail.

He revealed on the River Cafe Table 4 podcast last year that while he’s all about indulging in sumptuous dishes, Victoria keeps it consistent with her simple, albeit bland, eating routine. Beckham expressed his passion for food and wine, saying: “I get quite emotional about food and wine, when I’m eating something great I want everyone to try it.”

David continued: “Unfortunately I’m married to someone that has eaten the same thing for the last 25 years. Since I met her she only eats grilled fish, steamed vegetables, she will very rarely deviate from that.”

The football icon also shared a rare moment when Victoria did venture away from her usual fare, noting: “The only time she’s probably ever shared something that’s been on my plate was actually when she was pregnant with Harper and it was the most amazing thing.

“It was one of my favourite evenings. I can’t remember what it was but I know she’s not eaten it since.”

Victoria has previously spoken about her ‘disciplined’ diet with Grazia magazine. She said: “I’m very disciplined with the way that I eat, the way that I work out and the way I work. That’s just who I am.”

Challenging the notion that her diet is dull, Victoria expressed to Vogue Australia in 2022: “I mean, talk about making me sound boring. No. What he meant is that he’s never met anyone who is more disciplined with the way that they eat.”

Nicki Minaj Leads ‘Moment of Silence’ for Princess Diana During UK Show: ‘A Dear Friend of Mine’

The moment may have been a partial nod to Ice Spice’s song ‘Princess Diana,’ which features the Queen of Rap

The Queen of Rap is paying tribute to Princess Diana.

During her Sunday, May 26 Pink Friday 2 Tour stop in Birmingham, United Kingdom, Nicki Minaj, 41, led a seemingly impromptu moment of silence for the late Princess of Wales, who died in 1997.

In between songs, Minaj interacted with fans at Resorts World Arena, giving them her microphone to learn where they are from, a fan-captured clip of the concert shows.

After a fan told her they were from Wales, the rapper repeated, “Wales,” and switched over to a British accent.

“It always reminds me of a dear friend of mine,” she continued, still speaking in the accent. “Well, she’s not here anymore, but the Princess of Wales.”

As the crowd roared in response to the name-drop, the “Superbass” rapper put her hands together — and her head down — and asked fans to hold “a moment of silence for her.”

Following a few-second-long pause, the rapper then resumed her show, with the Barbz in the audience also returning to business as usual.

Though Minaj and Diana are certainly not “dear friends” — the pair never met prior to the princess’s death, at which time Minaj was just 14 years old — the rapper is certainly an admirer.

She was featured on Ice Spice’s popular song named after the late royal, “Princess Diana.” In the track, both artists rap, “When we come out, it look like Princess Diana on the street.”

Elsewhere in the song, Ice Spice references the royal again, rapping, “Callin’ my phone, but they know I don’t answer / In the hood, I’m like Princess Diana,” and Minaj’s verse also includes several references to both London and a “princess.”

The May 26 show came a day after Minaj was arrested in the Netherlands (an interaction she recorded and shared on social media) on May 25 for allegedly “carrying drugs” while she was on her way to Manchester, England for a concert.

Later that same day, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee fined and released the rapper, the law enforcement officials confirmed in a statement on X (formerly Twitter).

“We have just released a 41-year-old American woman who we arrested this afternoon at Schiphol on suspicion of exporting soft drugs,” the statement (translated from Dutch) read. “After consultation with the Public Prosecution Service, the suspect was fined and can continue her journey.”
