The 61-year-old married the non-executive chairman of Digital Cinema Media Nigel Sharrocks in 1994. Soon after, they started a family of their own.

In January 1998, they welcomed a son named Sam and then a daughter, Mia, in November 2001.

“I never did any exercise until I went to see a GP before or just after I had Sam. When asked if I did any exercise, I said ‘none,’ and the doctor replied ‘Literally none?’” she explained.

“I said ‘no’ and I was mortified because she was so appalled,” Fiona continued.

The TV star has since discovered her passion for running and opened up about how it has benefited her mental health.

“To me, exercise isn’t about living longer but it gives me energy and I don’t know what I’d be like without it,” she says.

“If I’m feeling stressed at work or stressing that I’ve got a lot on, I find it really helpful.”

“I have had years when I’ve tried to cram more things in. I had one year, five or six years ago, where I just became ill. Physically, I just couldn’t do it all. I wasn’t seriously ill but it was a bit of a wake-up call. I remember thinking that I just felt too tired so I became more judicious about what I chose to do and not do,” she said.

Fiona added: “I feel that someone in my position should do as much of that as they can. I think I’ve slightly over-stretched myself on that front along with my BBC work, so I’m trying to be more sensible on both fronts about managing my time.”

Huge congratulations are in order for Olly Rix after the Call the Midwife hunk announced his engagement to actress Anna Chell.

29-year-old Anna, who plays Jodie Whyte in BBC hospital drama Casualty, met Olly, 40, when he joined the show.

Olly, who plays surgeon Flynn Byron in the long-running medical drama, went public with his new romance back in August, sharing pictures of himself and Anna on social media.

Earlier today (January 19), Olly and Anna shared a joint post to Instagram. It showed Anna looking directly to camera, with Olly kissing her head. It was captioned with a heart emoji and an engagement ring emoji.

Casualty co-star Melanie Hill commented: “So made up for the pair of you lovebirds!!” The show’s Sammy Dobson also offered congratulations to the happy couple. “ARGHHHH!!!! THIS IS SO, SO LUSH!!! Congratulations!!!” she posted.

Fans also commented. One said: “Congratulations and every best wish for the future.” Another said the same and added: “Such a gorgeous couple.” A friend of the pair added: “My heart bursts!!! Bring on the wedding!!!”

Olly Rix linked to Helen George

Olly, who appeared as Matthew Aylward on Call the Midwife, was previously linked to his co-star Helen George, who plays Trixie Franklin on the show.

The reports surfaced after she split from partner Jack Ashton, with whom she shares two children. Around the same time, Olly split from his long-term girlfriend Natasha Fagri.

A source at the time responded to the speculation and said: “Olly and Natasha were very happy together for a long time, but eventually drifted apart due to work commitments.” Helen’s side also shut down speculation that they were an item. “No one else is involved. John Barrowman has revealed the news that his beloved dog Captain Jack Harkness has sadly died.

John and husband Scott adopted the Jack Russell back in 2008, and named him after his Torchwood character.

‘He died peacefully in his dada’s arms’

Sharing a video of himself sobbing while holding Captain Jack, John captioned the post: “He waited until I came home and he died peacefully in his dada’s arms within an hour of my return, with @scottmale Dixie and Tito around him.

“He was a good boy, a loyal friend and our Jackamo for 18 years. We are very sad but grateful he died of old age and did not suffer.”

In the video, John explained that he knew Captain Jack was “on his way out” while appearing at Comic Con earlier that day. He said that, when he got home, he and husband Scott put Captain Jack to bed next to him. John said he “held onto him and felt his heart stop”.

He added: “He died in my arms. I’m sad but it’s just the way I wanted it.”

Many of John’s followers quickly flooded the star with support.

Ashley Banjo, who worked with John on Dancing On Ice before he was axed, shared: “I’m sorry my friend.”

However, some followers were a little disturbed that John had shared a video of his deceased dog to social media.

“Dude – I get it. But don’t film this sort of stuff with the deceased animal,” said one. “Why are you filming this?” another asked. “Are you holding a dead dog???” a third asked.

“Having lost a couple of dogs over the years I feel your pain, but this isn’t the way. This should be a private matter. For dignity’s sake,” said another. “We don’t need to see this,” another agreed.

Others backed John, though, and thanked him for sharing the video: “Thank you for sharing such an intimate, raw moment. The pain never leaves us, but the memories make it easier. Always by your side, forever in our hearts.”
